How long does Philly stick with Wentz before going back to Foles?

And at that moment Wentz has an overdose of adrenaline in his body (among others a pain suppressant), which might be enhanced by Wentz maybe having a base level pain tolerance that is much higher than for the average human being.

Ripping an ACL could be painful (again, plenty of visual evidence in the sportsworld out there), or could be relatively pain free. Again, all dependent on circumstances.

And whether an ACL tear is painful or not says little about the period of time that is needed for a full recovery back to the pre-injury level. Most recon it to be somewhere between 9 months (best case at best) and 18 months.
18 months?? Geeze are we transplanting baboon ligaments

All I know is, while I honestly don't expect it to happen, if Dallas somehow pulls a lucky win out of their ass tonight I am going to be the biggest Nick Foles fan on the planet tomorrow.

Now of course if Dallas loses I'll be praying for NO win and to end this silly "Big Dick Nick" run...

Yes, but if it happened that way they would franchise him and then trade him. They wouldn't keep him for $28M. Then they would use that draft pick or have enough cap space to get another FA QB to bail out Wentz when he gets "hurt" at the end of next year again...and the next year
Really dont think the Fran tag is a realistic option. Not just for the cost to the eagles. But to trade Foles would mean Foles would have to cooperate. No way the eagles could trade him on a fran tag, without the other team already having a long term contract in place for him. Why would he negotiate under this pretense when he can be a FA & talk to any team he wanted.
Fran Tag wont be happening, unless they are trying to keep him & get rid of Wentz. Which I dont think is gonna happen (unless he won another Superbowl)

Still dont understand how this is even legal (or right) but it isnt a realistic option either way

9 months: earliest one could conceivably play.

18 months: latest to be back to full speed as before the injury occurred, and able to perform with that knee as before (mentally and physically).

All of this depending on the severety of the injury, the physiology of the individual (how fast he/she heals, is able to build up muscle strength and such), the way the injury is treated, the sport the athlete plays, and the athlete actually playing with full confidence.

If I look at what I have seen from soccer players in the various leagues (many out a year or so, if not more), then the 18 months actually does not seem too far-fetched.

While it may sound unrealistic to state it takes 18 months, it does help with the Wentz wasn't healthy/came back too early narrative...

Are you in healthcare? Or just quoting the internet? Serious question.

Here is where I disagree with you and this is based on nothing but a gut feeling. I think if the Eagles were winning games at the end Wentz would still be playing. I'm not saying he isn't hurt because I'm 100% sure he is, I'm just saying IMHO he could play if he had to and if the team was rolling when he was in there and struggling with Foles he'd be in there...

Couldn’t disagree more. You’re just feeding the trolls with that one brother. Not saying you’re trolling because you said it was a gut feeling but I think Wentz won and then they took him out. Need to double check that though.

He was fine before his last game played, and didn't take any bone breaking hits in it, therefore I'd say you are 100% spot on

Family in healthcare... so not completely unfamiliar.

For Wentz specifically, quoting various media reports (interviewing orthopaedic surgeons), who came forward with the between 9 and 18 months estimate between conceivably being able to play (best case), and 18 months (back to pre-injury state). All depending on the specifics of Wentz' injury (i.e. what the additional damage was). Most stated they would expect Wentz on the field in November at the earliest.

I also have an unhealthy interest in various sports which regularly include torn ACL's (soccer, rugby, Aussie rules, tennis) where these injuries happen, and these injuries are reported upon. And yeah, in soccer (for instance) I have seen the same variance with players. It seems to be between 9 months and a year for soccer players.

And then there is being able to play and not thinking about it when playing, which I have heared numerous athletes state in inteviews state takes a while longer than simply being physically ready for play.

18 months is quite extreme . I’m not saying it can’t be the case. But that’s a lot. It is usually one year rule of thumb. If you are coming back sooner, you can play but you aren’t 100% back to pre injury, but your risk for reinjury is usually pretty low.

What people fail to get. Is that not everything is perfect. Yes a lot of acl injuries aren’t that bad. Yes a lot of ppl
Can come back good as new. Yes modern medicine makes that happen:

However, a lot of people can’t as well. That your routine acl can kill a career. Ap is bionic. Others fall victim to both stability issues and mental issues

I’m an occupational therapist btw

Wentz LOST his last start and then Foles took over the next game.

Yup, I have become well aware of the bolded (both through personal experience as well as what I picked up from my family). One thing, IMHO, that I think you are well aware of, that can also be a problem is that athletes (subconsciously) adopt different biomechanics (technique) as a result of an injury which may lead to further problems. Something which might have a bigger impact on top athletes. I know of a few in various sports (track and field, skating, soccer, even cycling) who basically spent months or even a season to get their biomechanics/technique back in order. Some were never able to fix it, and IIRC there was one - as a result of having changed his biomechanics in order to deal with an injury - had to end his career.

I am no QB guru, but there have been alleged expert members (scouting type people) of the media who have stated that Wentz' mechanics seemed 'off', compared to last season. Some of that might be related (subconsciously) to his injury.

Occupational therapy is an interesting job indeed. And extremely interesting in sports. I have to say, a good occupational therapist is worth his/her weight in gold.
