Not sure how the UGA game would “ruin it” for 15-0 Bama. They came back to win a neutral slugfest, with a backup QB. You think the 95 Huskers had that kind of depth?

Uhh yes. LOL Nebraskas backup QB played most of the 94 season (where Nebraska won that national title too) and in the 94 NC game. Brook Berringer was proven and set for the draft after the 95 season if it wasn't for his untimely death in a plane crash. The way Berringer played throughout the 94 season reignited the QB battle going into the 95 season. Both QBs were proven. Difference is, we never needed any real comeback... if I remember correctly, the most we were ever down was by 7 to Washington St in the first quarter.... by halftime it was 20-7 Nebraska.

There is actually a really cool documentary (made by the BTN I think) on Brook Berringer. He was a real stand up guy. You should check it out.

If they didn't have to claw back against UGA, perhaps.

Nebraska blew em all out.

Highly doubtful. Miami wasn't even that impressive against a Nebraska team that had no business being there. People are putting too much stock into the amount of 1st rounders that Miami team sent to the NFL. But that Miami team was not as dominant during the season as Texas was.

they beat them by 23 points and outgained them 472-259. Nebraska's defense gave up 4.2 yards per play on the season and Miami averaged 7.7 yards per play. Also, Miami was up 34-0 at halftime. They might not have been as good as previous Nebraska teams, but they were still a very good team. And it looks to me like Miami had a pretty impressive win.

First question is who decided that '95 Nebraska was the best team ever? That's a joke

that 1971 Nebraska team is up there as well. one competitive game and it came against an extremely good Oklahoma team in one of the greatest games ever played.

As a Nebraska fan I can say that I don't think anyone was beating Miami in 2001. With that said though, I don't think they are the greatest ever obviously. Top 5 though.

nebraska beat

final ranked

2. Florida SEC Champs their only loss to Nebraska and it was close, just 38 points
5. Colorado Colorado destroyed Oregon 38-6 in their bowl game
7. Kansas State K State beat Colorado State 54-21
9. Kansas Kansas beat UCLA 51-30

Nebraska beat Michigan State by 40 in East Lansing, Michigan State went bowling against LSU and lost
Nebraska beat Colorado by 23 in Boulder
Nebraska beat K State by 24 in Lincoln
Nebraska beat Kansas by 38 in Lawrence
Nebraska beat Florida by 38 in the Fiesta Bowl

Nebraska went on the road in four games and won against bowl teams. Not only won, but won convincingly

Alabama beat Arkansas State by 50 points at HOME, Arkansas State lost their bowl game
Alabama beat A&M by 22 at HOME, A&M won their bowl game by 39 over NC State
Alabama beat Louisiana by 42 at HOME, Louisiana lost their bowl game
Alabama beat Missouri by 29 at HOME, Missouri lost their bowl game
Alabama beat LSU by 29 score 29-0, LSU beat UCF
Alabama beat Miss State by 24-0 at HOME, Miss State lost their bowl game
Alabama beat Auburn by 32 at HOME, Auburn won their bowl game
Alabama beat Georgia by 7 for Conference championship, Georgia lost their bowl game
Alabama beat Oklahoma by 11

Alabama did not play Florida or Kentucky, who won their bowl games.
Alabama played their bowl opponents at home or at a neutral site, except for LSU.
Five of Alabama's bowl opponents lost their bowl game, only one of Nebraska's bowl opponents lost their bowl game. Obviously Florida and Oklahoma do not count here.

Alabama and Nebraska could name their scores against just about everyone. Nebraska's closest game was by 14, Alabama's closest game was by 7.

As a Nebraska fan, I am on the fence on this one.

Nebraska went into their game with Florida as underdogs.

If Alabama crushes Clemson like Nebraska crushed Florida, there is an argument. If Alabama barely beats Clemson, no argument, 1995 Nebraska was better.

If Clemson wins, they'll be the first 15-0 champion too, why wouldn't they be in the conversation?

ACC is not a strong conference this year as witnessed by their poor bowl performance. Throw in Notre Dame in there for extra measure.

The ACC had two bowl wins against the Group of 5, yet, the ACC had five bowl losses against the PAC 12, B1G, B1G, SEC, and the AAC. More than likely, if Duke and Wake Forest could have played a Power 5 opponent, they would have lost.

I agree, but I cannot ignore the fact that Alabama would have played 4 MORE games than Nebraska. That is significant and should be acknowledged. On top of that, Alabamas final 3 opponents were all top 4 teams. Granted UGA went on to lose not just that game against Bama, but the bowl game as well... so they will likely finish in the teens. But nonetheless, 4 additional games is tough.

All in all, as to where my head is right now... I think Alabama needs to club Clemson in order to be ABSOLUTELY in the discussion. Definitely teetering right now though.

Gonna be pretty close. I think Nebraska had a tougher and more competitive schedule, playing 4 teams that ended up being top 9 teams. Florida (#2), Colorado (#5), Kansas State (#7) and Kansas (#9). Bama might have 3 teams they played in the top 10. LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma and Clemson. Clemson probably the only one finishing in the top 5 and LSU, Georgia and Oklahoma all being between 7 and 10. I still think I give the edge to Nebraska.

Both will have a top 2 ranked offense and a top 5 ranked defense. Both would have an SRS of about 27. Both have 2 shutouts. The reason I give the edge to Alabama is because Bama played 2 Sun Belt teams and an FCS school. I know it was a different time, but Nebraska played nothing but P5 schools.

They will get into the conversation if they annihilate Clemson. Nebraska won every game by 14 or more, beat 4 top 10 teams by an average score of 49-18, and a 38 point average margin of victory overall.

Georgia's 20 point loss to LSU and then loss to Texas in the Sugar Bowl could be the deciding factor.

OP likes clubbing baby seals..... :L

I called what's her named and she will protest out in front of his trailer!

Fun fact, I went to undergrad with a guy from Halifax who dated Sarah in High School. He also made a T-shirt Freshman year that said Seal Hunt '88 on the front with a guy with a spiked bat and a baby seal with a bonnet. On the back it said "I'd rather be sealing" He sold close to 500 before the administration got involved...can't understand why they broke up.

Clemson has an excellent chance to win this game. This will be much closer than anyone thinks.
