Half our defense was out most of the year last year due to injuries. We got some of them back for the Auburn game, but they weren't 100% and the same team you saw in the playoffs when we got a bunch of guys back and healthy.

But, the real question is - how good is Deshaun Watson.

Some of that Clemson game and be attributed to shitty gameplan by Sark. And the offense not staying on the field etc.

But this is the defense he faced in 2016 when they won.

2016 starting defense

CB Marlon Humphrey - 1st round, 2017 Draft
CB Minkah Fitzpatrick - 1st round, 2018 Draft
SS Ronnie Harrison - 3rd round, 2018 Draft

OLB - Ryan Anderson - 2nd round, 2017 Draft
ILB - Rashan Evans - 1st round, 2018 Draft
ILB - Reuben Foster - 1st round, 2017 Draft
OLB - Tim Williams - 3rd round, 2017 Draft

DE - Jonathan Allen - 1st round, 2017 Draft
DT - DaRon Payne - 1st round, 2018 Draft
DE - Dalvin Tomlinson - 2nd round, 2017 Draft

Also on that defense for the 1st half of the season:

FS Eddie Jackson - 4th round, 2017 Draft (would have been drafted much higher if not for knee injury)

USC, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Florida are the only schools to have a player drafted in every single draft since the merger of the AFL-NFL.

The last year MSU didn’t have a player taken in the draft was the year Chuck Norris was born.
