I wonder if he will mention QBR? He loves that stat.

Yup Shannon just pointed out he ranks 27th out of 31 in QBR

Lowest yards per game in his last 11 starts

Cowboys offense near dead last in everything

Skip blames Zeke, the Oline, the coach and Jerry Jones for not getting Earl Thomas

If there is a guy you want - you make the move to get him. Unfortunately the college crop doesn’t look great at the moment. I just don’t understand giving 20 million a yr to an average player. Maybe he gets better, but the windows close quick in the NFL now.

That's the way of the NFL now...SF just paid a mostly unproven QB, more than that. MIN just guaranteed a pretty decent QB, $100 mil.

I think Cousins is a better passer than Prescott, but if you put him behind center in DAL, the W/L results would probably be the same (2 road losses). IMO the difference between Dak and Cousins if given the same caliber of weapons...Cousins will get you more passing yds between the 20s.

That is true. But you have to go in between the 20's, so that gives Cousins a huge advantage.

"Without Sean Lee"

Sean Lee is the softest player in the history of the game and he still uses him as an excuse

Dak Prescott: "We have to find exactly who our go to guy is in the passing game"

Now IIRC Dak himself said he does not need true number 1 receiver.

However, that chump change immediately limits a team's ability to add weapons/line help around that QB. Paying the wrong guy even that $20M sets your team back.

Scales is all messed up...I still can't get over the Garropollo and Cousins deals

Well, if you're asking would I take Cousins over Dak? The answer is yes, but I'm not sure about a huge advantage to Ws.

I think Cousins is going to be better in between the 20s than Cam Newton passing as well, but is he a more effective QB to winning games? IMO, no.

The biggest point I'm making with Dak is, he's proven he can run an offense and be an effective winning QB with help. That's 95% of the QBs in the league...maybe 5% actually make their weapons better.

Dak's fine when he's not running for his life and he has someone to catch the ball.

I agree. I think what Cousins has is a higher ceiling. He is finally on a team where he is the guy for the forseeable future. Getting all the snaps. He was screwed a bit in Washington. I would feel safe saying he'll be a top 7 QB for the next few years. I really don't know what Dak is. He is trending the wrong way. It's not all his fault, but I think that first season was an exception and not really who he is at QB.

Right now based on a big enough sample size Dak is not a franchise QB. I do agree that he has proven that he can run and offense and be effective with help. I am beginning to wonder if he needs elite talent around him or can he get it done with just good players.

If he keeps playing like this he may get a contract for backup money. Right now he is not worth $20+ mil a year.

He reached his ceiling his first season. Actually “ceiling” means he could potentially reach that again. I’ll call it an anomaly.

I know Dak got hit a lot yesterday, but there were also lots of times when he got great protection and just held the ball for a LONG time before generally doing something dumb with it.
I think part of the reason he gets hit so much is that he takes way too long to execute...
