I would like to see some proof of that. Miami is not Notre Dame. They fell off the map and do not have the national appeal to hold them afloat. This is why the Hokies are asked to play in things like the Chick fil A classic, and the season opener against Boise last year. This is why, if we are an also-ran in the ACC, we are immediately snatched up by the bowl with the first choice. Miami is not as impactful as you think they are. If you have some numbers to prove me wrong, and show Miami being "10x as much of a draw" as the Hokies, I will happily concede your point.

If I am not mistaken in ESPNs history of broadcasting CFB, Miami has been in 5 or 6 of the top 10 rated games. It seems that more often than not when Miami comes to town an attendance record is set (even though we don't set any records in our stadium).

I guess this is somewhat besides the point, but Miami actually returned some of its ticket allotment to VT for this year's game. I can't ever remember Miami doing that for a game in Blacksburg. Might be fan malaise because of the scandal?

To be fair, VT hasn't exactly drawn national names in BCS bowls with Kansas and Cincy. Big deal. So you're telling me you'd rather have a few more people watch you go 6-6, 7-5 every year versus having a few less people watch you win 10 games seven straight seasons?

Because when Miami did dominate, They were not getting beat by teams like James Madsion. They were not losing 3 or 4 games a year and still winning a championship. No, When Miami Dominated, they DOMINATED.

2010: Won the ACC and lost to James Madison U. Alot of heat gets drawn here because of the fact that you "dominated" the ACC but yet lost to a FCS school AT HOME.

2009: Lost to ACC schools UNC and GT, GT went on to win the ACC

2008: Won the ACC, Lost to East Carolina, lost to ACC schools Miami, Boston College and Florida St. Even with a bad ooc loss and 3 losses in the ACC VT won the conference. Sorry thats not dominating, thats called everyone beating the shit out of everyone else.

Fact -- Miami's "domination" in its last championship year included a 26-24 win over VT that included a dropped 2-point pass at the end. That was with a team of paid professionals barely beating a team with Grant Noel at quarterback, who completed more passes to Miami than Virginia Tech that day.

Fact -- Miami hasn't brought anything to the ACC other than a name.

Laughing would be more appropriate than whining. Just think about it. The fact that the national champion, and by most accounts one of the best teams in college football history, limped off the field with a 2-point win against an 8-4 VT team with Grant Noel at QB is akin to Mike Tyson in his prime needing a split decision to beat a 12-year-old crippled kid.

And lots of players from that team were included in the yahoo report. You really think Miami was dirty as hell throughout the 80s and 90s, and from 2002-2010, but took a break to be squeaky clean during the Butch Davis/Larry Coker days? Allllllllllllllll-righty then.
