By a mile.

If he's the best player you've ever seen (and that's a very defensible take) that makes him your GOAT.

I wish I could have been old enough to appreciate him in real time. The best I've ever seen are Magic, MJ, and LeBron

Nope, because i'm only talking about a 10-12 year period. When comparing overall careers, MJs is better.

I am looking at the numbers. LeBron's pop off the page like no other outside of Wilt, MJ and O. That is before even considering efficiency or era. LeBron's jumps off there too.
LeBron has some impressive stats collectively speaking - but that doesn't consider trips to the finals and championships. One reason I have always counted the total titles big is because that's what they are all playing for and a championship team finds a way to win in diversity - it's the biggest hurdle of all time and it is the record that does separate them entirely - Give LeBron two championships before his career ends and the argument of him being in the top 5 will end - assuming he ends with the high end of points, rebounds and assists combined - Kareem is not to be overlooked though because he deferred to Magic considerably and he had the skyhook that basically made it possible for him to score when he wanted too. Jerry West was called Mr Clutch for a reason - he didn't just scored - He scored when it was relevant - so I still have to put Oscar, Kareem, Michael and Wilt in my top five - Don't forget Wilt was 30 points and 18 rebounds - that was impressive.

I should add, the other 2 best evers for me are Curry (best shooter ever obvi) and Shaq (most dominant physical beast ever....didn't see Wilt)

OK well again these are opinions, I just translated your exact words "the best player I've ever seen (by a mile!)". Best player = greatest player. Vocabulary, best = greatest

West clearly didn't score enough when it was relevant or he would have been better than 1-8 in the Finals. Isn't that relevant?

No

My exact words were: "Kareem in his first 10-12 years in the league is the best player i've ever seen."

Overall career is MJ

No, because Like LeBron - he was left with bad teams - See that's how much you don't know

And I just went with the bolded. Now we're just getting into a vocabulary argument and those are boring. You have your list, I have mine, and that's that.

So why does LeBron's Finals record count against him but not West? Both on 'bad teams' and all...

West was also with Elgin Baylor -- who I think was 0-8 in NBA Finals.

By this Logic, however then Bill Russell was better then LeBron since he went to the finals 12 times, won 5 mpv finals and 8 championships.

Wow what a LOSER Baylor was. Why is he in the HOF?

Well if we use your logic that championships don't count, then because he was better than LeBron

27.4 ppg 13.5 rpg and 4.3 apg - Elgin Baylor

I think they are okay - I don't particularily like career averages, but they work for now and gives us an idea.

Seems like to me what Baylor did for the Lakers most was get us Magic Johnson in a trade with Utah - is there any doubt as to why Utah fans hates the Lakers - We went on to win a title with Magic in his rookie year and Baylor retired with bad knees
