It's the off the court stuff that turned me into a hater... "the Decision" was strike 1 and 2 in my book.

His behind-the-scenes nonsense where he goes above and around his coach, GM and organization also earn my dislike.

Finally, his self importance.

That about sums it up, I suppose.

See and I can absolutely respect that. You're honest about your opinion of him and why you wouldn't consider him. You have a baseline metric for why you dislike him.

I hate Kobe, but I still respect him and what he was for the game of basketball. It doesn't detract me from where I would rank him all time.

So you'd rather have 2 rings than 3? Even though winning rings was the whole point as you just said? That is beyond retarded.
I'm beyond explaining my point- especially to you.

I can say if we're talking about him as a person detached from his basketball skills I totally agree with your points on why it's easy to dislike him. Albeit, I've never said he sucks as a basketball player - because clearly he doesn't.

Yeah... I'd probably still put LeBron top 5 all time... definitely top 10.

That's because you don't have one. You've got nothing.

No question I agree 100% MJ is the Goat. For multiple reasons, and for the defense which was amazing.

I get your gripe, but you don't have to be the extreme polar opposite of LBJ fans to have a solid perspective.

I think Lebron is one of the greatest NBA players to ever play the game. His skill set is unique in that if he simply wanted to, he could lead the league in Points, Assists or Rebounds at any given time (not necessarily all at the same time).

Recognizing greatness doesn't mean you have to detract from someone else's greatness. If you think Tim Duncan is the best power forward of all time, it doesn't mean Barkley and Malone were garbage.

But I will say, with extreme prejudice...Kobe sucks.

:suds:
Kobe was some what one dimensional, but he also got screwed by the Lakers who gave him the money he wanted, but not the players to win more titles - if he had signed for less money like Tim Duncan - he would have one may be one more title. He will be counted as a top 5 player although I would put him in the top ten at the best

Pretty absolute statement. KAJ had a 12/5/2 stat line in 26 minutes in his last finals victory. Is that really great play? Or was he pretty much a role player at that point?

I talk about play across a series and you want to try to use 1 game to try and prove something? Kareem played very well. He didn't have to be great in that one game because James Worthy went nuts in that game. It was the game where he got the "Big Game James" nickname.

To be fair, by that point (40 years old) Kareem was more of a role player, but he was a damn good one. lol

Really? So where do I have lebron all time then if you want to make that assumption?

Between 8-10.

I was just answering MSG's question. You have stated your case before.

Exactly. Lebron is in the conversation. The GOAT conversation seems to, almost exclusively, come down to MJ, Kareem, Magic and Lebron. That shows that Lebron isn't just an all time great...he's one of the 4 best ever.

Absolutely they do. That's why rings/finals record is a tiebreaker. If it's anything more than a tiebreaker, the ridiculous "Robert Horry arguments" start to have a little credibility. The one thing I would say re: basketball vs. other team sports, is that 1 player can have much more impact on a team than in other team sports.

You can put Lebron on any other team in the league and, at the least, that team becomes a playoff team. Can't really say that about any other sport.

Can't really say that about any other player. Except maybe Jordan and any superstar before the ABA merger when the competition wasn't that strong.

I would say because the Finals is the ultimate stage & in most cases great players have managed to win more times than not when getting there. Also, the point has been made in the role Finals wins/championships play when trying to differentiate between greats.

How often has a great player come up against a legitmately all time great team like the Warriors? Wilt, Jerry west and LBJ are the only ones. Jordan Kareem and Magic were on the all time great teams.

I actually posted Michael Jordan's stats vs LeBron - Michael was a better shooter, and defender in my book and LeBron averages more assists and Rebounds. To me that is a mixed and what separates the two is Michael's three championships more then LeBron - that's a stat - but like I said, if some one wants to convince me and others that he should be worship as God - then give me the numbers. I am not the one trying to convince anyone. It's the LJF's that are trying to convince ME

How can you, in 1 breath compare LeBron to MJ and say they are statistically a wash, then in the next day you aren't sure if he is better than a long list of players like Walton and Stockton?

MJ is universally considered to be the GOAT. If LeBron is close to him, then he best be at least in your top 5.

IMO his game is solid - except for when he shies away in crunch time. At some point he has to put winning over being the best team mate if he wants to be considered the greatest. I don't think he uses the best judgment in those situations - meaning relying on his FG% when barreling to the rim is going to be his teams best chance to win when the game is on the line.
I agree he did that earlier in his career.

But, I don't think it's a issue currently.

Dude was the only thing standing between the Cavs and the broom stick last Finals.

I mean, he was getting serious consideration for Finals MVP.

That's how otherwordly he was playing.

With that being said, you are right, he doesn't have that Jordan, Kobe, Westbrook killer mentality in him.

If he did, he could have been Universally seen as top 3, if not the GOAT.
