This is a thread about Penn State. I believe you meant to post in the Realignment thread, or the "general whiners" thread.

Many people on here can't deal with facts. When presented with them it's "whining" and "negativity". This forum should be renamed Hokiehomerhaven

You didn't present any facts.

I'm not going to waste my time looking up ACC bowl records and conference rankings that all show the ACC is no better than the 5th best conference. Most rankings I've seen show 6-7 every year. But again I'm not looking them up because this is common knowledge outside of homerland

Any reason we can't take an experienced upperclassman CB transfer? We're extremely thin, and reinforcements are a season away. The extra teacher would surely help Manning/Tookes and one or both would still see the field.

Here's Beamer's opinion, but you won't be particularly surprised by it.

Beamer says NCAA sent strong statement with Penn State sanctions | Nelson County Times

Sounds like they may be looking a little bit at the PSU roster..or at least considering it. If Zwinak wants to leave he would probably end up a Hokie..just a hunch..nothing definitive.

Could some of the Nittany Lions end up making their way to Blacksburg? Beamer noted that some of Penn State’s players were once recruited by the Hokies, but it’s too early to tell if they’d be a good fit now.

“I need to get back and sit down with our staff and talk to them a little bit. I think things are going to happen quick, so we probably need to do it quick. We’ll see,” Beamer said.

I think right now a lot of the current team are rallied and feeling the Penn State spirit. I expect that to diminish a bit once the consider the reality of their situation. I'd expect next year's commits to re-consider their options .

This. And would love any Olinemen. Can never have enough of those, and I would take a tough bluecolor Olineman from the Big10 anyday.

Are that many people really expecting a lot of PSU players to transfer? I would hardly say they're even that good.

If I remember correctly, we did lose some OLs to PSU within the last couple of years. As VTim said, I would love to get some depth there from the Big10 country.

There are a limited number of great players, and there is a lot of peer pressure to stay.

I would expect the biggest impact to be on the future recruits, who have to seriously rethink their commitment to a program that is likely to diminish over the next few years.

LMAO. According to Newsome he has 6 linemen that he feels good about. 6. And as we've seen throughout the years even the guys he feels good about usually aren't that good. I was looking over the 2012 NFL draft and saw some names in the first 3 rounds from college teams that either sucked or I'd never even heard of. If Penn St can win 9 games in the Big 10 then there is some talent on there. It's ridiculous homerism to say that VT is too good for some of their players

Where did you see anyone say anything like that, crackhead? It seems that there are plenty of guys here, myself included, that would be happy with our coaches looking for additional OL.

My question was more of a general one. Of course PSU has some good players, but the media is making it out to look like there will be a mass exodus of guys and coaches are circling like hawks, but its not like they have 20-30 guys talented enough that they could just walk into another starting job in a major conference. I would expect the majority of the guys in those positions to stay

from hokies journal...

To clarify Beamer's comment, I'm told two high school coaches of PSU players contacted the #Hokies gauging VT's interest

+1. Can't never have enough big uglies on either side of the ball. Secondary would be nice as well as someone noted.

I am with you though I see very few upperclassmen leaving. They have too much invested. Unless...they are really big time guys (top 5-10 players on the team) OR if VT (or whatever other respctable school) recruited them out of high school. Coaching staffs aren't going to put much effort into looking at film (yes..the real people who know how to watch and breakdown film), bringing these guys to campus, checking them out, etc. for a year or two. These kids would have to likely learn another system, get enrolled in classes, hope all of their credits transfer, yada yada yada. It is just way too much to do in the time frame the players and coaches would have to do it. Coaches are getting ready to start August practice. I would be surprised to see more than a handful of juniors and seniors leave (unless they have already graduated)...the '11-'13 recruits though..I think that it has just begun.
