In fact, I'm reevaluating every player 29 years of age and older on this roster. (yes that includes Norman). To be clear, my perspective is, I would rather move a player a year or two too early than a year or so too late. In order to keep any player on this team his value must meet or exceed his performance. Even then, his age will be a factor in determining whether he's moved or not.

Now in as much as young guys are concerned, the average age coming out of school is 22. This gives them very few years to push for starting jobs, if they are still projects by year 3, we have a problem that must be addressed. Btw; there are no players worth a shit that don't have becoming a starter at the highest level in mind. Now I realize that a lot of their development relies upon having quality coaches, that too must change, even if I would have to initially overpay for top teachers. Winning costs, there's no real loyalty in this game, we love our favorites, and must be willing to part with them for the sake of paying that cost to win.

i wouldnt trade RK , i would try to build the team into a competitor

How?

I'm tired of chasing the goal of being a "competitor" I want to win SB's with the goal being everyone else trying to compete with me.

So let me get this straight...

1- we trade for a 34 year old QB by giving up a third rounder and a second year star.

2- now people are suggesting we build for the future by getting rid of our best players for questionable draft picks.

WTF is wrong with you people.

We have got to make some cuts to get more cap. Are there any obvious cap casualties? McClain would be one of course. I honestly think we need to cut Reed. He cannot stay healthy. Amazing player but I doubt he plays in 50% of the games next year. We need to trim some fat.

I think you need our need a better understanding of contracts. McClain costs 7 million to cut. He costs 4.7 million to keep.

We are fine cap wise. We were fine cap wise with KC.

I think we should get rid of Reed just because he is constantly injured and I would rather get something for him now instead of having him retire due to concussions.

I guess I do, I never claimed to be a cap expert. That is one thing I like about Bruce.

Just out of curiosity, what is your free agent plan/wish list with players and contracts? You haven't put one up like you usually do.

Reed’s value is extremely low right now.

His talent outshines his trade value.

I am still pissed about the trade. I will put out one before the draft but I already know the intelligent route for this team is out the window.

I would look at Jeremy Hill and see what his price is. I can see him being anywhere from 3-8 mil per season. I would bite at the low end. That being said, I would still want RB in round 2because I expect good value there.

At WR, I believe in either getting the best or the best value. In this case, pay for Robinson or Watkins, or hope Moncrief comes at a value. If not, resign Grant and Pryor, and wait til next season.

At TE, I would look at Jenkins.

Resign Spencer Long for 5 mil or less.

Sign Trent Murphy and Kong Ealy if the price is right.

If we go big in DL, it needs to be Wilkerson. Otherwise, draft at 13...better yet, no matter what draft at 13because that is where I see the value.

You know better than to suggest that one is related to the other from my perspective, and you also know that the guy I wanted here as a replacement for Kirk will be a free agent in a few days.

we are a 500 team , the next step is being a competitor . we dont have the team to do that now and giving away assets we have groomed doesnt help . . i have a plan i will come out with very soon but lets be clear , competing for super bowls year in and year out is the goal . sometimes we will win sometimes we wont

Some interesting points

-Spencer Long being ranked 16th on this list is interesting... maybe he is more affordable then we think?
-Paul Richardson below Pryor
-Colvin ranked #6 at corner
-Bennie Logan ranked #10 behind Beau Allen, Justin Ellis
-Trent Murphy ranked #3 and Junior Galette ranked #11

If I was playing madden I'd resign Spencer Long and Galette
Sign Colvin, Bennie Logan, Allen Robinson (would settle for Richardson), and Rex Burkhead

Draft an ILB, S, RB, Lines

Players coming off of injury are very hard to put a value on. Long and Murphy will both be paid less than they would have got and may have to take a one year deal to get their value back.
