@tomcat1 I thought about you last night when Herb Sendek's Santa Clara Broncos team lost by 50 to the Zags

I had a friend try and tell me Herb Sendek was a better Coach then Roy Williams. It was a riot.

With all due respect on who you pick as friends I think this particular friend of yours has a few loose screws. I celebrated the day that I heard Sendek was leaving the NC State program.

Yeah, he’s an idiot. He tried to say Roy is only good because he goes to blue blood programs. If he was at a non power he wouldn’t do squat. He still wins there and he has like 3 NCs was my response.

I'm not an ole Roy fan but he is already a hall of famer.

I agree, the guy has almost 900 wins and 3 national championships. He is a sure fire hall of farmer.

You've got a coach at West Virginia who is going to go down in history as one of the elite coaches too.

Love him, just wish he’d recruit more guards every once in a while.

He has won everywhere that he has been. I guess the problem is keeping him at one location for a long period of time but hopefully your Mountaineers can do that.

Well this is his 14th season in Morgantown. I can’t imagine when he leaves it’ll be for another job.

Yes, WVA has done a great job in keeping him in Morgantown. Time goes by so fast that I didn't realize he had been there that long.

He’s an alum. I believe it’ll be his last job before retirement.

Side note, it’s WVU :)

Sendeck was good at NC State. Especially given what NC State has been before and after him.

lolololol

When Herb Sendek was the coach at NCSU, they were a distant fourth in the state. There was a huge gap between them and Duke/UNC, but the gap between them and Wake was pretty sizable as well.

Sendek was 9-15 against Wake

Granted that was back when Wake was a pretty good program (Sendek's winning percentage against Wake is actually better than I thought it would be), but that doesn't change the fact that Sendek was a horrid coach

the hit job the media did on the State job after Sendek was ran off was ridiculous.

and tbh, the "Roy Williams is lucky" narrative isn't an unpopular opinion around these parts. It's a stupid opinion, but it's an opinion that many people share.

Sendek sucked. Wake Forest and NC State will always be each other's measuring stick. When Sendek was the coach at NC State, they were leagues below Wake as a program. That's a problem.

Odom, Prosser, Gaudio >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Robinson/Sendek/Lowe

and i'm not sure i put enough >>>>'s

and Gottfried/Keatts >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bzdelik/Manning

In order to be successful at those two programs, you need to put fear in the hearts of the blues while being at the very worst on par with the other redheaded stepchild of Tobacco Road. Sendek did neither. Odom and Prosser did @ Wake, that's why they both are in the rafters at LJVM.

Oh he certainly didn't have them at Wake's level when he was there, no doubt. I'm just saying, compared to what he took over and what's happened after he's probably their best coach the last 3 decades. I'm comparing him to what I know of NC State as a program, which is 10 tournament appearances in the last 25 years, in which he has 5 of them.

eh, that is more reflective of NC State's athletic department than anything else. I think State has had one of the worst ran athletic departments, when it comes to managing revenue sports, in the past thirty years.

i think Gottfried was as good as Sendek, but Sendek has him on longetivity. At the same time, you could argue that Sendek didn't deserve a sixth year at State.
