I'm guessing they traded him to the Cubs.

Rondon is having a better year. Just doesn't get the chance to pick up many saves. They never are ahead unless they push across a lot runs.

Great 8th-9th if they do trade for him though.

Yeah they don't NEED a closer, but you figure there will be more close games for them in the postseason and having a great 8th-9th is better than having a great 9th. It'd also take Chapman away from SF and WSH, two other NL contenders looking to improve their BP.

Hoping Chapman ends up with my Cubs. Bullpen of Chapman, Strop, Nathan and Rondon would resemble the Royals bullpen from last season.

Cubs, Yankees reportedly have Chapman trade in place that could be completed soon
Shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres could be involved

The Yankees had been rumored to be nearing an Aroldis Chapman trade all day on Sunday, and now it looks like the finish line is in sight. According to Jon Heyman, the Yankees appear to be working with the Cubs on a deal that would involve shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres.

Heyman's tweet comes on the heels of another that confirms Torres' inclusion in a forthcoming trade -- apparently one involving Chapman, should the two sides finalize their agreement:

Chapman, a free agent at season's end, has pitched well since returning from a suspension stemming from firing his gun following an argument with his child's mother. In 31 games, he's posted a 2.01 ERA and 5.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He's also notched 20 saves and nearly 13 strikeouts per nine innings.

Torres, 19, is hitting .275/.359/.433 in High-A. He was recently ranked the 27th best prospect by Baseball America and the 34th best prospect by Baseball Prospectus. It's unclear who else the Cubs might be sending to the Bronx, but Torres seems like a good start to the Yankees' rebuild.

We will have more on this story as it develops.

Sounds like Torres and Candelario for Chapman. A lot to give up for what could be a rental but honestly Cubs are pretty set at SS and 3B for the forsee able future so it makes sense.

That's still a heck of a price for a 2 month rental. Can't believe Beane isn't capitalizing on this new market inefficiency.

The guy who traded Josh Donaldson for Brett Lawrie and magic beans?

I get his theory behind the move but it obviously didn't work out.

But if he can get Fedde for a guy like Doolittle? Why not?

The early rumors were that a deal was being done with the Nats so that's a real good point.
