Not a crazy opinion, but 2018 just didn't happen?

2018 did happen. He was really good for a rookie that season. But in the overall grand scheme of QB play that season he was simply average. Followed by being arguably the worst QB last season.

Haskins pretty much did what Burrow did last year....you want him over Burrow?

I'd disagree on that. And Haskins had little to no mobility. Burrow is a much better prospect coming out IMO. I wasn't high on Haskins.

actually, in the overall grand scheme of QB play the second half of the season (after coaching change) he was among the most efficient QBs in the entire NFL, not just rookies.

as I said, to many here it's as though 2018 never happened.

OK...but he put up similar numbers to Burrow with a slightly higher QBR.

I would think with this pandemic ESPN has shown a number of games from 2018. You should catch some. It did happen.

What if we like both QB's? I think Baker bounces back closer to his rookie form and Burrow is a very nice prospect despite the SSS and Uber-stacked team he was on.

I'll take Baker just because I've seen him do it before in the NFL. Still think last year is more a glitch than a trend.

Baker Mayfield has had 8 games where he has taken 4 or more sacks. He is 1-7 in those 8 games.

Baker isn't going to be more than the sum of his parts. The Browns have issues. Its not just a Baker thing. If you put someone like Jimmy G or Tannehill on the Browns you'd get the same results.

Burrow's stats:
60 TD's, 6 INT's, 76.3 Comp %, Rating 202.2, QBR 94.9, Raw QBR 90.8.

Haskins' stats:
50 TD's, 8 INT's, 70.0 Comp %, Rating 174.1, QBR 84.8, Raw QBR 77.5.

You'd think you'd be able to do a little research in the middle of the pandemic.

Putting up numbers is not the end all be all. Watching film is where the difference is made. There’s a reason why Haskins was taken mid-1st and Burrow is #1 overall

2018 did happen. So did 2019. And wasn't the reason Kitchens was hired as HC was because of the improvement on the offense in the 2nd half of 2018? Now he's to blame for the shitty 2019 season?

you just keep proving the obvious that you slept through 2018 and think it didn't happen. I included Burrow's 2018 season at LSU, and his QBR at LSU was lower than Haskins at OSU

agree.

But then explain trubisky, josh allen, blake bortles etc all taken high that dont have the tape to back that up........

Even now, allen has deceptively looked "good" , that team has improved vastly overall, on the line, RB, and D. Allen has played a big role, but certainly not as a passer, his numbers just arent good.

Not wrong, but a lot of those same issues existed or were worse before and he performed very well, like a top 10 QB even and had a lot of people justifiably very excited about his potential going into last year. Namely, when there wasn't pressure, Baker went from very impressive rookie to a pedestrian sophomore.

I don't think Browns fans would be butthurt if he was just inside the top 10 QB conversation instead of some overpowered QB.

Yes.

Bob Wylie rips Freddie Kitchens in a bitter radio interview

When this came out many thought it was just sour grapes, but clearly he spoke the truth.....and it is why neither Dorsey nor Kitchens are still employed by the Browns.

Funny you ignore the fact Baker was among ALL QB leaders second half of 2018.

Did you have your own quarantine in 2018 with no connection to sports?

Which ones? I'd be curious to see those stats and how it compares with peers.
Going by memory (I'll look for the actual stats) I know RZ efficiency was one. Pretty sure overall QBR.

One that really stood out was more of a team stat...he was hit 12 times (not sacked, hit). Next closest had 28.

Still baffles me Freddie dumped everyone who had to do with that success.

I'm not ignoring that. He was really good 2nd half of 2018. That's a quarter of his NFL career. He was awful the other 75% of it. This doesn't mean I don't think he will be a really good QB moving forward, but he's been below average, on the whole, in the NFL. I just like Burrow to be better in the NFL. Doesn't mean was has to suck and the other has to be great.

Why are you changing what you initially said though? You said Haskins pretty much did what Burrow did last season.
my quote from post 188

"OK...but he put up similar numbers to Burrow with a slightly higher QBR".

I had posted that QBR in other posts as well. Obviously referring to Burrow's time at LSU because, you know, 2018 happened.
