Would you consider HuskerNation the most loyal fan base in CFB?

There is no doubt they are loyal. Not only have they sold out their stadium since before I was born, even through the Callahan years. They are among the best when it comes to traveling. I joke about how there's less to do in Nebraska than there is in Iowa, which both states are pretty much the same. So, I am not trying to say the Husker fans are not loyal - they are.

But I just don't believe a major conference program that is in a state with no other Division I or NFL football program in the state to test their loyalty should be considered the most loyal.

There is really no way to measure "loyalty" other than ticket sales, away game attendance, TV ratings, and stuff like that, which as you said, do not account for teams in locations that have other FBS or NFL teams. If you look at those numbers, I think it would be impossible to put another team in front of Nebraska. 50+ years of sellouts and consistently showing up en masse to opponents' stadiums is how Nebraska fans do things. I am proud of the passion Nebraska fans have for our football team, and don't really care too much what others think of the support we give them. I would be interested to hear what team or teams people would put in front of Nebraska, as well as the reasoning behind it.

This does not exactly relate, but the first thing I did when I read this thread was look at a list of all FBS schools by state. There aren't many states that only have one program, but one caught my eye. Missouri is the only FBS program in the state, and the Rams have only been there since 1995, so I wonder how much that affected attendance, traveling, etc. I didn't look anything up, I just thought that would be interesting.

You realize that loyalty means supporting the team when they are both good and bad, right?

College football attendance slightly off from record 2011, NCAA says - ESPN

Another noticeable decline was at Auburn, which also fired its head coach, Gene Chizik, after a 3-8 season and a winless record in the SEC. Auburn averaged 82,646 fans per game this season, down 3.7 percent as compared to last season.

 Let us know when you can do that for more than half a century.

I don't really get the comparison to the "Such and such state has more FBS programs and a Pro football team".

Season tickets for an FBS team are about $400. Mid range season tickets for Pro's are in the $500 range. Under a thousand bucks and you've got season tickets for both venues. That's a drop in the bucket. One plays Saturday one plays Sunday so there's no conflict there. Most states have more than enough population to support more than 1 FBS team.

Minnesota's got a population of 5.38 million to support the Gophers in CFB and the Vikings in Pro.

I know People in Nebraska who have season tickets to the Huskers and the KC Chiefs. The Nebraskan's out west have season tickets to the Huskers and go to Denver Bronco games. Omaha peeps go to Minnesota Vikings games, or Chicago Bears games. Nebraska does it with a population of 1.8 million.

Why are you jealous?

What are your criteria for most loyal?

Huskers have a history of selling out home games, traveling well, over a long period of time.

I'm also not sure having pro teams around really is a determining factor here; it is somewhat of a factor in some areas of the country, no factor in others.

When I look at UT in Austin, under MB's time, attendance went up, stadium expanded progressively to the approx. 105,000 it is now. And every time, I wondered if the people would continue to fill it up. There are many different options in Austin, with it being of city of 'doers', people who are outside doing stuff all the time. Plus add the music venues and all the major concerts and events such as F1, ACL fest etc going on the same weekends as football. Fans travel pretty well.

But hard to pick any fan base that has such a long track record of support as the Huskers'.

His criteria are...

NO great traditions
NO Heisman winners
NO NCs
NO top recruiting classes
NO winning seasons

Fans of teams with those characteristics are Bandwagon fans.

You see I know this because it's a duplicate thread from just 3 weeks ago. One that he gave his criteria in.

I think Tennessee fans would have to be considered some of the loyalists in the country. Had 4 straight losing season's and still averaged 95,000+, not to mention almost 70k showed up for the spring game. As for THE loyalist? IDK, that's almost impossible for me to say, but teams like Nebraska, Alabama and PSU definitely have loyal fanbases.
