Cap situation isn't great. But, right now Bailey is on the top line. While ridiculous because he's nowhere near that talent level, it also isn't hard to replace. Wahlstrom hopefully becomes that guy on the 1st or 2nd line but even he is an RFA after this season. Because of his inconsistency and injuries he probably doesn't get much $ but the one thing he does is shoot the puck well. Moving Beauvillier was big for their cap. There is no increase in the current year at least from Beau to Bo. Then +$4M per after that. The other guy to move is Bailey. If they move him as well it will help. If they make another deadline move (and I think they will) it may require moving Varlamov to offset it. They also won't be adding any $'s on defense in the next couple of years. What Mayfield gets in FA will be the one to watch there. They have some young guys that can fill out the 3rd pairing. Cap has certainly been the issue for a couple of years now with no #1 picks to help out.

Finally sign a scorer and guy to help the PP, win a couple of games in a row and then drop two to not very good teams...that golden ring is barely visible at this point...

Should have done something in the offseason when it was already crystal clear a top line guy was needed to push everyone back one spot to have any chance. The Josh Bailey contract remains an albatross and likely will require unloading Varly as well to shed and even then will be tough
