With the retirement of Tuberville - I saw the ESPN ticker list Fleck as a possible replacement. I assumed Fleck would be hopping to a blue bloodish opportunity - but does the job at UC make sense? I know the Bearcats are used to the skipping stone coaches.

Lots of fresh facilities and $$ for football in Cincy -- I would love to see the Bearcats get back to being competitive.

Bengal fans may want him to coach Sundays in the city.

That's a lateral movement - what would be the point? Dude is in line for a real job, no point in going to UC just to leave in another year.

I agree - but I wouldn't call it lateral. How about, a very slight slant.

Say the Bearcats finally find a conference and they land in a Power 5?

Cincy is stuck in pergatory due to their conference... unless there is a major change in the college football landscape, they'll just be a basketball school.

It might be an improvement in salary (well I'm sure it would, how else would they get him there). From the standpoint of "I want to be in the big times", it would be basically lateral. That dude needs to go P5 now. His stock will not get any higher than this.

Yeah - that's why I was shocked to see his name...

I know the Big East was a different animal back then - but, Colt McCoy floats that ball out of bounds for .1 more sec --or that Nebraska kicker doesn't kick the previous kick-off out of bounds -- Bearcats would have been in the Championship game... So there are possibilities at UC, but I agree it would be foolish of Fleck to go right now with the conference uncertainty and his name being so hot.

Who is the best/more likely candidate that would give Fleck more fame/money?

He was brought up for Purdue, and I thought even that was beneath him at this point and that would get him a seat at the big boy table.

Now THERES a hire that would keep OSU scared of scheduling Cincy.

Fleck would be a terrific fit at Cincy, good solid hire if that happens. BTW FTR no Western Michigan to Cincy is NOT a lateral move, not even close to a lateral move, Cincy much > gig that WMU.

Seems like a natural progression to me.

Oh yeah. Agreed. Fleck will probably sign a pretty nice class his first year on the job too.

Not sure what big jobs out there who are really interested in Fleck.

So far the only opening of a "big" school I heard was interested in Fleck was Purdue.

He's got a lot of smoke linking him to Oregon.
