I doubt that Sherman would cover Amendola, who I think mostly plays from the slot, with Edelman and LaFell usually outside.

Ahh, sorry, I might have been thinking Edelman then..

Tom Brady throwing regulation footballs? I'll go with anybody in the Seahawks secondary. 3 INTs in the Super Bowl will get you an MVP.

My thoughts last year. I thought Manning should have won MVP for Seattle with 4 T/O's and scoring more points for them then his own team :L

Where he is at in the depth chart of NE, I would imagine he would be lined up against Sherman most likely, so ya, I guess he could get some yards, but unless Sherman has an uncharacteristic game, I wouldn't expect too much production.

But, I could be wrong of course, and thats why they play the game.

He's like the 3rd option.

Amendola was supposed to replace Welker and for two years he's been either hurt, bad or just missing in action.

Suddenly in the last 6 months or so he's playing like the player we all hoped he would be. He played well in the Ravens playoff game. He is the perfect dark horse because he's usually not the primary or secondary target.

Wilson or Brady. Unless someone has a game like Smith did last year.

Last year was tough to pick. Smith had the pick 6 and the fumble recovery plus a bunch of tackles so he was definitely worthy. But Wilson had a vey solid game, Percy Harvin could have easily been picked and even Kam Chancellor had a crazy good game.

If I had to chose someone other than a QB, I'll take Blount.

I don't know that he is underrated, but I definitely think that Wright is one of the best coverage LBs in the league.

He is one of the least talked about players on that defense, so in that sense he flies under the radar a lot.

Some thoughts:

  • In Tom Brady's 3 Super Bowl wins, he got the MVP twice and Deion Branch once. So Gronk has a shot, but Brady is likelier for the reasons stated above.
  • The lower the winning score, the more likely the winner is an offensive player other than the QB.
  • If I had to pick a longshot, it's Edelman. E.g., if he has a punt return for a TD and is a strong second to Brady as offensive MVP, he could be game MVP.
  • Most of Brady's recent INTs seem to be targeting Gronk. That gives you a clue who to suggest as longshot MVP candidate from Seattle's defense.
  • Patriots most likely to get 2 TOs in this game are probably McCourty and Collins, unless Wilson is overeager to test Revis. The Pats' edge rushers should be too busy playing contain to rack up big stats.

Interesting. As great a game as Blount had against Indy, I'm not at all convinced that he'll get more than a handful of carries. Hard to say, but my guess is that the Pats go Sunday more with the versatility of Vereen that the power running of Blount.

Good play...guy is gonna catch some balls for sure.

My MVP and game ball has to go to the O-lines or D-lines...nothing ever happens w/o them.

LOL Good point ... except it never happens. Well, except for Harvey Martin and Ed Jones winning co-MVP in '77, I think.

I think you need Norris Weese -- not Tom Brady -- to play QB for the Pats!
