Pretty difficult to go with anyone other than Millen but there certainly has been a few of them over the years.
The guy in charge of the Hershel Walker deal
In the same vein as Sashi Brown, Ray Farmer has to be mentioned as one who had potential. Among his most idiotic moves:
Passing on Khalil Mack to trade down to #7, and then passing on drafting OBJ, Aaron Donald, and many others for Justin Gilbert, who was never, ever good.
Trading up for/Drafting Johnny Manziel
Signing Dwayne Bowe
Drafting Danny Shelton over a number of better players, and drafting Cam Erving in the first round, wasting the pick he got from trading down the year before
Trading down and passing on a franchise QB to draft Corey Coleman, who was a total bust
Do owners who meddle in general manager affairs count?
If so, Dan Snyder, Al Davis and Jerry Jones need mentioning here.
Jerry Jones and it's not really close
Raiders fan since 1970's. Al Davis starting going senile in the 90s; he was a terrible owner/GM until he gave up the team.
Al Davis was among the worst from the 90s on but had a great run from the 60s through the 80s and won three Super Bowls. When averaged out I can't put him on the worst list.
Die fuckerThe guy in charge of the Hershel Walker deal
I was shocked your thread didn't start with Jerry.OK, this is a good one. Joey Galloway trade, Roy Williams Trade, Shante Carver, lots of good examples.
Darrius Heyward - BeyNFL should have intervened.
Two words: JaMarcus Russell
Two more words: Lane Kiffen
Two more words: Hue Jackson
Two's continue: 2 first round draft picks for over the hill DE Richard Seymour
2 first round draft picks for Carson Palmer
Whoever was the Steelers GM pre-70 or so deserves mentioning. (Art Rooney, John Holihan, Francis Fogarty)Seriously, though:
Millen
Post 1990-Al Davis
Post-2009 Jerry Jones
Mike Brown
Idizik?
Give Gettleman some time, he'll get there.
I still say Matt Millen but discuss
