I wanted Kopech to stay in as well, but you also have to pitch guys - give them some work - so they don't get called in against the Yankees - having not worked for 10 days. Besides - Bummer gets paid for 8th inning work.

I'm still mad at La Ru for going public on his Mercedes issue - it didn't even protect his guy from getting thrown at - which would have been the only saving grace.

espn writeup didn't even mention bummer, the guy who single-handedly gave the game away last night, nor larussa who predictably thinks every game has to end with bummer in the 8th and hendriks in the ninth ... no matter how bad they look (even i could have predicted bummer would walk the 1st batter in the ninth)! the fact we had a guy pitching the 7th who both looked great AND is the kind of guy to throw multiple innings doesn't occur to the guy who looks winded every time he has to move and can't keep his eyes open.
i understand losing games. i DON'T understand stupid baseball.

ignorance at its worst. he kissed up to minnesota twice now about that ab. and i think this is the kind of stuff that starts to erode confidence. i imagine mercedes doesn't think much about tony calling him out and now saying what the twins did was fine.
