Right now Lebron James chip losses are being held against him cuz MJ never lost one..........However I think if he can somehow match MJ's 6 then they will begin to count as a positive and he will overtake the 1 spot.
I am not saying that championships decide how good you are but that is how the sports media is judging it currently.

Using career scoring as justification for a guy who has played 20 seasons is homerish at best.

Dirk is a great player. But no chance he is top 10 all time, let alone top 5. He might not even be top 20.

But for a guy who scoring is his best skill, he doesn't have a scoring title under his belt and his career best season he averaged 26.8.

Great player, but not all time great. At least not when compared to the very best who have double figure 1st team all NBA selections, multiple MVP awards and multiple Finals MVPs to go along with scoring titles, all defensive teams and other accolades Dirk never sniffed.

But sports has numbers and metrics, music and movies don't. You can definitively say player A scored more than player B, and won more titles, and got more assists, etc. So opinions matter when comparing greats, but you can't say Nick 'Swaggy P' Young is an all time great because it's my opinion, when there's not even a hint of numbers to back it up. I mean, I guess you can but you would sound retarded.
