Maybe the rangers can pick this guy up to help with their tired bullpen and get a good look at him for possibly next year

That would be nice
1.Perez-$15 mil 3/$45
2.FA-$24 mil-Rodon/Bassit 4/$96
3.Trade-Shane Bieber
4.Gray
5.Dunning

CL-Trade-David Bednar
Hernandez
Burke
FA-$8 mil-Taylor Rogers - Corey Knebel
Martin
Barlow
Hearn
Tinoco/Sborz/Kyle Cody

$47 million.. should put payroll right at $175 million. With inflation that’s just about right for our market. 12th in payroll
Try to extend Bieber starting in 2025.
Perez, Dunning and Gray should come off roster after 2025 to allow for our pitching prospects to hopefully come up..
according to a lot of sites projecting Rodon and Bassett contracts Rodon is projected to get around a 30M AAV and Basset is projected to get 20-22M AAV and each is projected to get at minimum 5 years. for Rodon that would be at or above 150M and Bassett 100 to 110M.

and if we are going to trade for another starter i would rather it be someone younger and we would have under control of for at least 2+ years like Pablo Lopez

Acuna being the highest rated and closest to Arlington...

I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them traded in 2-3 years...

Starting pitching for the moment and to resign players in a couple of years...
that would basically be admitting failure. i would think we keep them at minimum 5 years

Lopez and Bieber are both under control for 2 years. 2025 hit free agency.

I wouldn’t sign Bassitt to a 5 year deal. I don’t think anyone will.. I’m thinking Bassitt gets 3/$65 and Rodon 5-$110 or 4-$96
never can tell with projections

Why?
Bieber is having the better year and also has had a better career..
Why would you prefer Lopez?

Bieber has a triple crown, a CY young Award and 2 AS appearances. 134 ERA+ 3.00 FIP career.

I think are pitching is still a couple years away from being mlb ready..
definitely want a solid rotation to start the year. And bullpen
What to do with Glen Otto?

I would be willing to give a lot for Alcantara because not all of our prospects will have a position open to them, his salary is a steal and he has been one of the best pitchers in baseball. It would have to tempt Miami to want to make a deal.

well if we did the FA signing and the trade then Otto and Dunning would battle it out for the 5th starter unless the Rangers management decides to throw Burke into the mix for the 5th starter. then one of Otto or Dunning could be traded with the other either in the bullpen or at AAA

it would be ultra-expensive maybe too expensive plus the Marlins are already saying he is untouchable

That is why it would have to be tempting. How many of our prospects lately have we seen just fade away. I remember when we gave Matt Harrison who was a throw in, Jake Thompson, Alec Asher, Jerad Eickhoff, Jorge Alfaro and Nick Williams for a short contract in Cole Hamels and Jake Diekman.
We also gave up our #2 prospect in Lewis Brinson and #3 prospect in Luis Ortiz for Lucroy and Jeffress which turned out a disaster But those prospects never really delivered.

Second that but for some reason he is pitching pretty well with Tampa Bay.
