What is Rondo's next contract worth?

As long as he's a Celtic for life, I'm happy.

There's only one player in the league I'd be happy theoretically replacing him with, and that's KD.

He is due $12.9 million next season. If given a max contract, he'll be making a lot more than that. With the constraints of the current CBA, I don't think Rondo is worth that much. Something around his current salary seems about right.

I dont think this kind of logic drives free agency in any sport, though. The Celtics looking at their roster, the draft picks coming in and looking at the size of their brand is what will factor into his contract

I dont think the celtics offer him a max contract. I dont think they really wanted to keep him, but everyone knew they wanted out and nobody were willing to give up anything until he proved he was ok.

Pretty sure its gonna be a sign and trade to get a couple #1's when his contract expires.

He is worth a max contract if needed. He is the best player the celtics have had in a long time and is well worth every penny.

I like Rondo as a player, but he's not a max deal player. Just because you're the best player on your team, doesn't mean you deserve a max deal. But he would be in the range of about 13-15 mil per year. He is probably the 3rd best PG (in my opinion) behind Parker and CP3. And yes, better than Derrick Rose.

That sure sounds like a max contract player

Not when he can't crack the top 10 players in the league currently. A max-deal player IMO, is someone despite what's on the roster, can get your team in the playoffs. Lebron did that with the Cavs, Durant's been doing that with the Thunder w/out Westbrook for a good chunk of the year. Melo's been keeping the Knicks afloat for the better part of the year. There's only a few max-deal players. Just because you're the best player on your team, doesn't make you deserving of such a contract.

I dont think a Max contract is logical. There are few players that are worth that large a number post CBA rule changes.

Assuming its around $15M, how many years would you give?

If I had to sign him right now, I'd say 4 years at $14-15 million per. As for what he actually gets once he hits FA, it'll depend on what he shows for the rest of year. If he can show himself to be at least close to pre-injury Rondo, then I'd say closer to 4 years $17-19 million.

Do you guys now see why I can't take Lakersboy and Shaqdaddy seriously? They have absolutely zero knowledge of the NBA or how it works.

Rondo will command close to a max deal. If Alec Burks is getting 10-11 mil per year then Rondo should have no problem exceeding that deal by quite a bit.

a max deal for a guy that can't/won't be relied upon at crunch time?? a max deal for a guy that has yet to develop a consistent J or any other arsenal to his offensive game?? when those youngins shots stop falling those assists will fall too and then just how valuable is Rondo??

The going rate for PG's is 12 million per season and he's a step above those guys.

He only had 2 points the other night, but 19 assists and 12 rebounds. He's one of the few players in the league who can control a game without scoring.

I find myself less upbeat on a Celtic than Trojan. That said, if he had Paul i his prime he would look better

Shooting under 50 from the line too

Does he not put in the work during the offseason? Is it injuries? 9th year in the league and he still has no perimeter game.

Rule I am at a loss. I loved this kid (remember the old CBS days, I was married to that dude), and I still like him at 15M a year. But he is no max player, not with what I have seen so far.

I agree. I wouldn't offer him a max contract. I wouldn't trade for him either, especially if they would have to give up Randle. If he makes it to free agency, then go ahead and make a run at him.
