I’m not a fan of split titles. Arky was undefeated. Texas and Bama has one loss. Arky beat Texas. Texas beat Bama
And the AP AND UPI National Championships were awarded BEFORE the Bowls back when some National Champions didn't Bowl, some Bowled and lost and some Bowled and Won. It was a different Era. Don't like the results? Take it up with those selectors! :)

Like I said earlier though, I do prefer Undefeated, Untied Bowl Championship Teams (regardless of who was awarded the various NCs).

Alabama leads all teams with 9: 1925, 1930, 1934, 1945, 1961, 1966, 1979, 1992 and 2009.

Penn State is next with 5: 1968, 1969, 1973, 1986 and 1994.

Then, there are the others - including:

Georgia with 2: 1946 and 1980.

and

Arkansas with 1: 1964

Apples to Apples across Eras.

We probably could claim 46, but we don’t

Once again there is a difference between not liking the results and disputing the legitimacy - especially in regard to AP, UPI, BCS and CFB Playoff NCs awarded. People can whine and fuss all they want about this year or that year, but...

Alabama is an 11 time AP National Champion: 1961, 1964, 1965, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017.

Alabama is a 10 time UPI / Coaches National Champion: 1961, 1964, 1973, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2017.

Alabama is 3 time BCS Champion: 2009, 2011 and 2012.

Alabama is a 2 time CFB Playoff National Champion: 2015 and 2017.

If one recognizes AP, UPI, BCS and CFB National Championships for one, they should recognize them for all. Alabama has won one of more of these in 12 different years: 1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017.

On top of this, Alabama has 4 Undefeated Rose Bowl Teams from the pre-AP Era they claim (1925, 1926, 1930 and 1934). Count them or not. Does not matter. There was nothing better than being an Undefeated Rose Bowl team during that Era.

1941 is bunk.

Back to the original point made by @Diego Roll Tide 9/10 of "0-9" NCs stat he mentioned were either AP, UPI, BCS or CFB Playoff National Championship years. Only the "6" year was a stretch using Alabama's 1926 9-0-1 Rose Bowl Co-Championship Team - which was recognized as a NC for that season by many selectors including the National Championship Foundation and the Helms Foundation - which many other schools use in their claims too.

If I were running things at Alabama, I'd fly 17 Flags: 12 for the aforementioned AP, UPI, BCS and CFB Playoff National Championships (which should be recognized by any other schools that have won one or more of those) + 5 for the Undefeated, Untied Bowl Champions that fall outside of that AP, UPI, BCS, CFB Playoff National Championship category (1925, 1930, 1934, 1945 and 1966).

Finally, that being said, at the end of the day, let the NC trophies fall where they may. What really counts to me is being an Undefeated, Untied Bowl Champion (regardless of NCs awarded or not).

Alabama leads the way with 9: 1925, 1930, 1934, 1945, 1961, 1966, 1979, 1992 and 2009.

Penn State is second with 5: 1968, 1969, 1973, 1986 and 1994.

Then, there are the others including Auburn with 2: 2004 and 2010.
They are liars and cheats and you need to understand and accept it.

Alabama doesn't claim 1945 (10-0 Rose Bowl Champions) OR 1966 (11-0 Sugar Bowl Champions) for the same reason: Not an AP OR UPI National Championship in the AP / UPI Era.

AP: Alabama
UPI: Alabama
Chewbaccer: Arky

I’ll stick with AP and UPI, but Arky appreciates your support!
That’s why polls that finished before the bowls were jokes.

11-0 with a win over Texas >10-1 with a loss to Texas.

Independent thought isn’t a crime you know.
