Yac. Where can I find those statistics by team? Not only by team, but broken up game to game. Only then can you truly paint an "objective" picture of improvement of yards per game and ypa. That includes completion percentage as well. How do shorter completions that go for more yac show improvement? On the contrary, it tends to a better system or better receivers than it does improved QB play.

I don't have a source for those stats, but yac could also be a function of very accurate passes hitting receivers on the dead run so they can advance downfield easier. I'm not saying that's all it is, but you didn't include that as a possibility.

Things like completion % for passes travelling 0-10 yards, 10-20, 20-30, etc. downfield. That's very important in determining downfield accuracy. Only with those would you be able to make an objective assessment of Dalton's improvement from one year to the next. That is a valid point.

As for the tight window throws, I know Dalton has hit some this season. He's hit some last season as well. When I get time in the next day or 2, I'll pull up the game threads from several weeks ago where the normal homers are complaining about Dalton not seeing/hitting open receivers or holding the ball too long. He obviously doesn't have the comfort level to consistently throw those passes, nor has he shown the ability to consistently complete them either.
As long as he's making better decisions the tight window throws become much less important, as many times the decision to throw it away or eat the ball is the more logical thing to do, something that Palmer still struggles with, as he tends to trust his arm too much in those situations.

Of course that's a possibility, but it's something that many on this board have noted since the beginning of the season. Green does his own thing for his yac. Hawkins is another guy who Gruden did a great job getting into open space. I even distinctly remember mentioning several times in the first quarter of the season that there's no way he'll be able to keep up his production because teams will get him on film and take away all those catches he's burning them with, and that's exactly what happened. One of Tate's long TD's (don't remember against whom but I want to say Washington) the CB took a horrible endzone and he walked in a 50 yarder.

Point being, while you're correct hitting receivers with accuracy and at exactly the right time would be a product of yac which would be credited to the QB, it just isn't something that I've Dalton do enough to even take notice. And in fact, yac typically is a product of a system. It's those rare Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, Brees types that produce those yac on their own.

Why are you bumping a post where you are crying about Dalton? Aren't there enough of them on the board? Should I make a sticky?

LOL @ "crying" about Dalton. I haven't reread the thread yet, but I'd be willing to bet just about every post I made about him was correct and the opposite for the rest of the homers.

I'd love to see Doug's new "previous 4 game" (3 until after Baltimore...better hope Dalton puts up 7 TD's and 0 INT) stats and how his stats NOW compare to last season's totals.

Talk about jumping the gun, and only after a few good games.
