I guess I don't see the point of releasing him. If you're stuck with him, you're stuck with him. He's not abjectly awful. Idk what Cleveland's cap situation is and how long Watson is suspended, but if there is a way to make that work...

My boss hates me too. Doesnt mean he can move on from me and have it make sense to his business.

During COVID, the cap went down. Because revenue went down. You know what didnt get adjusted? Coaches pay.

Doesnt make a lot of sense to pay Rhule almost $40m next year NOT to coach when you have to go out and commit another huge chuck of change on a new coach that might just as easily fail. Especially on a team that generates revenue at a bottom 5 in the league. He thought well enough of Rhule to give him that contract. He has to play it out more than just 3 years (which isnt even 50% of his contract duration).

Do you remember when Rhule's staff were laughing at the idea of trading for Kirk Cousins? As if Kirk was somehow beneath them? Now they settle for Mayfield.

We'll see how funny they think it is when they are on the unemployment line in January after another 5-7 win season.

I don't know Tepper well enough to know how he will react as an owner to yet another flop of a season, but if Rhule doesn't put up a respectable season, I think that he is out.
