Relying on recruiting service evaluations entirely was a good portion of Mack Brown's downfall at Texas IMHO. They looked good on paper!
Yep. He can recruit...if he is recruiting the right guys. At the end he is when he relied too heavily on the recruiting rankings instead of evaluating players themselves IMO.
He got lazy with just offering and taking kids commitments after their sophomore seasons. Left a ton of good players who grew in their senior seasons..meanwhile a lot of the players he took were already regressing. Case in point the kids he had committed for the 15 class before he got fired. Charlie released them all and those kids all went to smaller schools.. just shows how much Mack lost it.
The 11 sports that will be discontinued are as follows: men's and women's fencing, field hockey, lightweight rowing, men's rowing, co-ed and women's sailing, squash, synchronized swimming, men's volleyball and wrestling.
It won't be long before those pay cuts trickle down to the athletes.
