They were shopping themselves to the big 12 and ACC.. Again, they were forcedYes. Had nothing to do with the CFP as you originally claimed. ACC offered them the best opportunity (and a hell of a deal) to move all sports except football.

USC has a much larger endowment than Oregon.
You are making a ridiculous argument, and doubling down on it by simply saying "Nike"
I don't see what Nike has to do with people wanting to play Oregon. Nike isn't running a network , Nike doesnt have a recruiting base in Eugene to make it inciting for other teams. With USC you get a trip to So cal and an ability to invite possible Cali recruits to a game close to home.
Endowment? Is Harvard independent? You are bias if you don’t think Nike means anything. You guys literally bought a baseball program. You are like the We are Marshall movie except instead winning 1 game you become a NC contender. You built a football program off of Nike uniforms. Nike means more to Oregon than you give credit.
so, essentially whomever is left after SC shakes the foundation of the PAC, SC will align with them as ND does with the ACC?
If SC jumps ship to begin sports(Football) as an independent, the PAC as we know it will implode. At that point, the biggest money piece of the conference is gone, I'm sure AZ schools, UCLA would then really consider joining the Big 12.. along with Colorado and Utah. Maybe Huskies dream of playing in the Rust Belt will then materialize.
So who is independent SC going to align themselves at that point? Big 12? probably not. RustBelt? If they didn't make loopholes for ND, SC is absolutely not getting one. MWC? most likely.. and with that SC as an independent is a joke.
Umm, SC doesn’t have a recruiting base right now either. Nike’s influence could get a better tv deal than SC can right now. You and I both know SC doesn’t come close to selling out the Coliseum unless you are good. You aren’t ND where a network would give you enough money to support your athletic department unless you are good which hasn’t been the case in a revenue sport except what once in 7 years in football and basketball.
USC isn't going anywhere.
Hope that helps.
Southern California is'nt a recruit rich area that other teams would love to come and impress perspective players? LOL. Going to So cali for a game wouldn't light up other schools faces? You're on crack if you think telling a team where going to go play Oregon because Nike rather than go play USC in Southern Cal.
SC as an independent, yes it is
Truth. And not all 3 stars are equal. When you see some of the "biggies" that have their pick of 4-5 star kids and they get early committments from 3 star kids, you know that school's evaluation is higher for that kid than the rating services.
Agreed and some schools evaluate a lot better than the recruiting services. My point was simply all 4 stars aren’t elite recruits. Particularly if they aren’t even a consensus 4 star and aren’t getting offers from the top programs
Sometimes players just aren't a fit for the scheme (offensively or defensively) that a team wants to run. If you utilize dual-threat QBs, someone like Peyton Manning isn't going to be as appealing as Michael Vick.
Better coaches can adjust their schemes for the talent they have or can get. But yes, you need players who can do what you want to do as a team
Oregon hasn't had a coach who has demontrated that skill since Chip.
I agree but Mario is a better “CEO” or program manager than Chip
Certainly the Avalos hire was a slam dunk. It remains to be seen how the OC/WR coach replacements will do...both of those have been areas of opportunity.
