As it stands right now, these are the teams that I see making it out of each conference (not in any particular order):

West:
Clippers
Warriors
Rockets
Jazz
Lakers
Pelicans
Blazers
Spurs

(I could see the Mavericks making a run but I don't think they will)

East:
Nets
Heat
Sixers
Celtics
Pacers
Bucks
Pistons
Raptors

(For me, there's no other teams that would make it. Every other team in the East is a joke right now)

If I were forced to seed them:

West:
1. Clippers
2. Warriors
3. Rockets
4. Blazers
5. Jazz
6. Lakers
7. Pelicans
8. Spurs

East:
1. Bucks
2. Celtics
3. Pacers
4. Nets
5. Heat
6. Sixers
7. Raptors
8. Pistons

Pelicans over Nuggets? No, not even close. Try again.

Pacers way too high. Yes, that's my team and I said it.

Normally I'm a fan of thread diversity, but this type of thread in July is uncalled for.

I mean, you did knowingly comment on a thread titled the unnecessary and very early season predictions. Your fault, brah.

Not having the Nuggets is pretty dumb. Considering they will end up as a top 3 seed.

More or less, that should be about correct given uptodays movements...

The key factors that may cause alterations in the above, are the following:

1. Who the Magic will land as their starting PG and who out of their roster they trade to get him.
2. Who the Lakers land as to be their starting PG.
3. Who the Bucks will trade for using Leure's and Ilyasova's contracts and the picks they got from the Pacers.
4. Which team the bad contracts of PGs Westbrook, CP3 and Wall will end up with...
5. What team Robert Convington ends up with...
6. What team Bradley Beal ends up with..

Yup. Them or Houston should be the top seed out west. People are down on Houston because of the Warriors series but people forget they're almost a lock for 55 wins in the regular season

Very very tough to predict at this point but I think a couple of these teams could have growing pains even the Clippers (even though this team seems to be great defensively).

WEST
1. Rockets
2. Nuggets
3. Clippers
4. Lakers
5. Jazz
6. Blazers
7. Spurs
8a. Kings
8b. Mavs

I don't see any one of these teams competing for a playoff spot at the moment: Twolves, Grizz, Pelicans, Suns, Thunder. The separation between those 9 teams and these 5 is large.

EAST
1. Bucks
2. Sixers
3. Celtics
4. Pacers
5. Nets
6. Heat
7. Raptors
8a. Magic
8b. Pistons - if they get RW, I move them to 5-6 seed.

I could see the Hawks taking a step, still thinking they are a season away.
If Love is healthy and the Cavs' rookies shine I could see them making a run for the 8th spot POSSIBLY.

Knicks, Wizards, Bulls, Hornets will all be fight for top 5-8 lottery, maybe Cavs if Love gets hurt.

Certainly after Jeremi Grant was traded to the Nuggets today, one shouldn't count out of the playoffs neither OKC or the Nuggets from West contention...

The Nuggets have added significant power in their roster and then in the position they needed it most, but also OKC has moved under the lux tax threshold and has landed SG Alexander for their future and to back up Westbrook until that future arrives... In addition OKC has added 6(!!!) 1st picks and Gallinari...

It shouldn't therefore come as a surprise , if they use Shroeder and a couple of picks as to supplement WBRook, Gallinari and Adams via some trades and be back to the playoffs this season...

Considering "load management", players out due to injury and teams adding significant new players, this is how I think the seeding for the playoffs will play out.

West:

1.) Jazz
2.) Nugs
3.) Clips
4.) Lakers
5.) Rockets
6.) Warriors
7.) Blazers
8.) Spurs

East:

1.) Bucks
2.) Sixers
3.) Celtics
4.) Pacers
5.) Nets
6.) Heat
7.) Raptors
8.) Magic

  • Los Angeles Clippers +300
  • Los Angeles Lakers +400
  • Milwaukee Bucks +500
  • Philadelphia 76ers +800
  • Golden State Warriors +1400
  • Houston Rockets +1400
  • Denver Nuggets +1600
  • Utah Jazz +1600
  • Boston Celtics +2000
  • Brooklyn Nets +2000
  • Toronto Raptors +2000
  • Indiana Pacers +3300
  • Dallas Mavericks +4000
  • Portland Trail Blazers +4000

That Portland bet seems like a really good bet. Not that I think they will win, but 40-1?

Nuggets and Rockets also good bets and Warriors if they get Klay back.

If?

Also, Vegas likes the Mavs more than any of us, no one picking them to even make the playoffs

Regular season wins and playoff seeding doesn't matter that much once you make it to the post season. So this list is not about how teams will be seeded but how they will favor in the playoffs and my rankings on who has the best chance in coming out of each conference.

WEST
1. Clippers (West Champ)
2. Lakers (Runner up)
3. Warriors (2nd round exit)
4. Nuggets (2nd round exit)
5. Houston
6. Jazz
7. Trail Blazers
8. Mavs

EAST
1. Boston (East Champ)
2. Bucks (Runner Up)
3. 76ers (2nd round exit)
4. Miami (2nd round exit)
5. Pacers
6. Nets
7. Bulls
8. Pistons
