Following the dreaded off day at home. They have had two off days at home so far:

May 12 - were then swept in a three games home series vs the Angels.
May 26th - were then swept in a three games home series vs the Twins.

I would hope we could hold a 5 run lead for 4 innings. But I've been hoping that for a while.

5-2 with tying run coming to the plate. I thought he left Kuma in there too long. He looked out of gas to start the inning.

Why wasn't that interface on the catcher? He blocked Lee's foot before tagging him.

It's actually pretty good...
Really happy with how the homestand is going, and last night in particular was a refreshing flashback to May. Now we just need to check with the "authorities" to make sure we're winning these games in the right order, but I'll take 3 of 4 every time.

Of course it is. The reason for the shrug was more commentary about how little it does to stack up to the last entire month, but saying at least it's a start back in the right direction.

I think everyone understands that the M's need their starting pitchers back if they are going to get on any kind of a roll again. Feels like they are just trying to hold on and do what they can until the rotation is at least back to something decent again. Walker is supposed to be back this week and Felix is at least throwing normal pitches again.

They put themselves into too big of a hole to really even dream about the division again. Wild Card? Sure. IF they can stay a lot more healthy with their SP and stop shooting themselves in the feet in close games.

Furbush is throwing w/ out any set backs so far so that's a positive... Felix threw off the mound as well so both of those two are getting closer to return... I think Karn's in a bullpen is a smart move... Can't have a starter than consistently cannot get through the 4th or 5th inning... He'll serve us better in the bullpen while Leblanc takes over for him as the starter... Not sure where we're at w/ Zych...

Issue is we need at least 3 of our starters, whoever it may, to give us a consistent, strong innings through at least 6 innings in order for us to make a legit run imo... I don't see us having 3 arms to consistently give us that... They haven't shown that at least... Paxson, Walker, Iwa, Miley, Leblanc? Haven't seen it from either one... The only one is felix and who knows what he's going to look like when he returns... Hasn't had to leave the season for this long in a very long time so i'm curious to see how he does when he takes the mound again...

We dug ourselves a huge hole like you said... It's going to be very tough to get that WC unless we have an August like we did over a decade ago...

The 'authority' says 4 out of 4 is better, but only fans know that. Spectators are satisfied with less. Nothing wrong with being a spectator. As a fan who watched Diego throw the first ever pitch in Mariners history and has watched 90% of the games over the last 20 years, I expect more but you don't have to.

There's a difference between expectations and what you are willing to accept outside of that. However it's still not realistic to expect 162 wins. Doesn't the saying go that everyone wins 40 and loses 40 and it's what you do with the other 82 that tells the story of your season?

I will accept 3 out of 4 right now against even poor talent just because of the circumstances the team is in with injuries. I would not normally accept 3 out of 4 against cellar dwellers or losses given up by the pen in games you had a lead late. Can't ever be O.K. to have a blown save.

But I say again, 3 out of 4 ain't bad compared to a full month of just horrid baseball. It's not enough, but it's a start anyway. That's the most I'll give them.

Now go win tonight and make it 4 out of 5. Keep building up progress.
