world war z update.
Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS

They break down areas of infection geographically.... the second highest number is the Diamond Princess cruise ship, at 454 cases. all from one dude who went to a HK hospital at a port stop.

overall, over 73,000 cases (from 4,000 three weeks ago) and 1,875 deaths (from 100 three weeks ago)

I've been using this tool quite a bit. I still don't get why the rate of fatalities is so much higher in Hubei. Is it an air quality thing? Secondary infections?

I must be missing something but I really can't think of a legit reason why people who get it there are so much more at risk of dying.

It could be an age-related thing is the first thing I think of - Not sure of the demographics in Hubei, but if there are a large number of old people contracting the Wuhan, they are likely fighting an uphill battle with recovery right from the start.

Also, would anyone sign up for a cruise on this Diamond Princess ship ever again?!? Might as well give this vessel the Titanic treatment.

I would assume it's because the health care system has been utterly crushed in Hubei (Wuhan especially)
People are going to the hospital, and they just can't get help. Some are dying in the hallways and waiting rooms
Ambulances aren't picking people up anymore, because there is no capacity.

Well, this news sucks - Hopefully, this situation is resolved quickly and CN hires these workers back.

When I was at McGill they started stacking the classes with foreign students. Lots of Americans. It was also pretty apparent that their admissions standards for those students were, shall we say, a little more lenient.

But $10,000 vs. $900 in tuition was hard for the school to turn down I guess.

A Harvard_Oiler approved school :D - I toured through the campus at McGill a few years ago, pretty cool place.

private school in my neighborhood recently added 2 years of pre-school (at the full tuition rate of $23k per year)
It was 100% mainland Chinese students. was basically $50k of babysitting (plus whatever "voluntary" donation) to make sure your kid had a place in the school for grade 1.

I was only there for year and a half before transferring to another institution. To be closer to a young lady. Now I would rather try to shave a wolverine's ass in a phone booth than spend 30 seconds in the same room with this no longer young lady. #Priorities

It is a cool place though. I love living out West but I miss Montreal from time to time. If you could put Montreal in Calgary's location you'd really be on to something. Maybe the Wexit group can figure out a way to pull that off. They seem like a bright bunch.

Um, Jagmeet, if you don’t think the current government is capable of resolving a major issue you literally have no confidence in that government.
