the difference is Buffalo has sellable assets that they'd probably want to keep.

I suppose and there's no guarantee that finishing last will get your McKenna (thanks Edmonton), but they could acquire a boatload of draft capital by moving some of their more desirable assets.

they might get some via a JJ Peterka offer sheet. Mike Harrington was on 650 last week and he said he thinks many Sabres have requested trades and that Peterka will sign an offer sheet if its presented to him no matter who the team lol

If Sabres management were smart, they would also be a seller. I mean, what's one more year of being bad if you land McKenna?
Look at you trying to be logical.

The Sabres management thinks they are good enough and will put a competitive team on the ice. They will start out strong and then inevitably shit the bed as usual.

The life of a Sabres fan….

my bad if this was common knowledge or posted before here but Frank the tank said something interesting (WHAT???) the other day regarding the Broberg and Holloway offer sheets signed last summer. Brobergs agent convinced Holloways agent to sign the Blues offer sheet initially. Holloway was hesitant but was persuaded by his own agent. Brobergs agent did it to make his client less of an enemy #1.

ie That if they both signed the offer sheet at the same time, it would make the Coilers look bad and the franchise/management would take heat instead of the player(s)

on that note, Holloway fired his agent last week .. switched to Connor McDavids agent:
