Yeah if Stewart is the weakest link in our secondary we are doing fine.

We have pretty darn good depth there too and multiple players who can play CB and S.

When Chris Harris talks about D Stewart he doesn't talk weak link. That's saying something. Think he will be big asset for secondary at a spot they needed to get better at

Stewart definitely showed some glimpses in the playoffs of what he can be at the safety position. He hasn't shown it for a full season so definitely interested to see that but I do think he fits the more aggressive style that Phillips wants to play compared to Rahim Moore. Moore to me fit his role on the team decently of playing that deep safety that just doesn't allow the big plays over the top. He did give up a few here and there but for the most part the Broncos have been one of the better teams in the league of not giving up the big plays over the last couple of years. The problem with that style of defense is it does put it at 10 vs. 11 as the safety is eliminated most of the plays. It also eliminates some chances for some big turnovers because of the conservative play calling.

One decent camp observation this week has been that Siemian is now ahead of Dysert when it comes to QB order. Since the preseason game he has been the 3rd QB up. In my opinion Dysert is playing for his NFL career at Houston if they even let him play.

A couple of other observations from today...Kenny Anunike is sitting out right now at camp. Not sure what is going on but he does have the day off today.

Peyton's play fakes have left the coaches and other players really impressed. While he might not be the best QB for the bootleg he is one of the best in the business of selling that the team is running to then pass over the top.

Also some of the retired player sightings today are that of Rod Smith, Shannon Sharpe, and Todd Helton. I honestly think Rod Smith with how often he has been at practice working with the WR's this year that he is wanting a job on this team. He and Kubiak worked well in the past and Rod Smith was one of the hardest working players this team has ever had in my opinion. Wouldn't mind one bit if he got hired on to work with the WR's.

Simien has never done anything for me, but at this point Dysert isn't either. But hey I am up for any challenge in developing an unimpressive college QB. :)

Haha yeah we will have to see. I don't thin Dysert or Siemian will be anything special in this league beyond just a back up. Siemian made some decent throws on Saturday but I have seen Dysert have good games in the past as well. Heck I saw some Bronco fans at one point thinking Dysert would pass Osweiler on the depth chart because of how good Dysert was looking against 3rd string players in the preseason. At this point it is either Osweiler or a QB not on the team that will be leading this team after Manning is gone.

During the 2-minute drill time at the end of practice here today they decided to give McManus a chance at a 70 yard field goal. He ended up drilling it and the entire team went nuts.

As for the rest of practice McManus went 5-7 during field goal drills and Barth was 6-7.

:agree:

Simien has a nice arm, but beyond that I just don't see it. But I am not against seeing what he has if Elway sees something he thinks he can work with. My guess is Dysert cut, Simien to the PS. Give us a year or two with him to see what we can do. If he can make good decisions he has a chance with his arm, because the rest he can develop. He just has a long ways to go at this point.

The one thing that Siemian has going for him beyond just a strong arm is a coach that knows how to help the QB. We have seen pretty much everywhere Kubiak has gone QB success has followed. Steve Young had his best year as a pro under Kubiak. Same with Griese, Schaub, and Plummer. He has a system that is very QB friendly from everything I have read. I am definitely interested now though to see what he can do with a HOF QB like Manning.

I am convinced that Elway is gonna draft at least one project QB every other year.

It's kinda like taking that piece of pie late that you know you shouldn't be eating. :dhd:

He has a second thing going for him - he was drafted by this coaching staff.

That doesn't help him on the field.

The coaching and strong arm can/will.

I disagree. If both are on the same level, I believe Kubiak keeps the guy he selected (and I agree with you it will be on the PS) over the guy that Fox selected. Human nature.

I don't think we are disagreeing... I am not arguing with you that if it comes down to a roster spot between he and another QB we could keep him for the simple fact that we drafted him and wanted to work with him more. I am saying that the fact that we drafted him doesn't help him on the field that is up to him and the coaches.. He doesn't become a better player just because we drafted him.

But remember we aren't cutting Manning and the other two QB's on our roster were both drafted by us, so he will have to earn it.

I would say Dysert gets a little dowgraded for a couple of reasons beyond just what happens on the field. The first being that he is a little further in his contract. This is his what 3rd training camp so at least the FO and many of the other players have seen what this kid can do. Next would be that this is a new coaching staff. It is still the same FO so they saw something in this kid at some point to have drafted him. So it is only a small downgrade at this point.

I do like that our team keeps bringing in QB's. Elway has shown he knows what it takes to have a championship caliber team and that is a competent QB at the helm. He is doing everything possible to get that position right. Hopefully Osweiler can be the answer at the position but we will just have to wait and see.

I would say Dysert gets downgraded over Simien if they are equal too. Dysert is in his 3rd year. Simien in his rookie year. No doubt about it Simien gets the edge if we have them on equal play.

Elway loved Dysert coming out, but at sometime he has to part ways with the developing. Dysert took a step back last year when we didn't value him enough to keep him on the active roster whereas the year before we did afraid someone may try and sign him off our PS (which we would have had the option) to pull him onto the active roster.

I'd say Dysert is gone (unless he picks it up) and Simien is on the PS.

Yeah I think Denver/ Elway really expected Dysert to come into camp this yr and show a good jump in improvement over last yr and I think they were disappointed in his progress. I don't believe either one of the two has a future as a starter in NFL but I liked the confidence Seimian showed in the pocket compared to Dysert. If you didn't know better, you'd off thought Dysert was the rookie.

Not good news - Anunike to have his knee scope do tomorrow. Good Health has been his #1 issue.

Hope its negative. That would suck. Guy has been playing hard and deserve a break on the injury bug that's been biting him.

Could be worse, but never wanna see a guy coming off a knee injury from the previous season having issues with it. Hope we don't have to shelf him again. After his camp last year going on IR much like McCray the year before I was looking forward to seeing what he could do this year. Hope his knee isn't a lingering issue which is tough to deal with and last in the league for an undrafted guy.
