Maybe I just heard some DISCUSSION about changing the deadlines. I thought they were changed this year..

:noidea:
Maybe the discussions were about next year. Technically, they did change the non-waiver deadline from July 31st to August 1st.

No. It was a legit 2-week shift, not a one-day shift just to deal with a calendar triviality.

Thinking about starting pitchers potentially on the trading block, the ones I'd be most interested in:
Masahiro Tanaka
Julio Teheran
Chris Sale
Jose Quintana
Dan Straily
Doug Fister
Danny Duffy
Matt Shoemaker
Zach Davies
Ervin Santana
Rich Hill
Jeremy Hellickson

Still not sure if the Yankees and/or White Sox will sell. The Angels' rotation is so devastated, they probably won't trade Shoemaker. Davies and Duffy are probably not available either. I'd go with Fister, Hill or Hellickson as they would probably be cheaper then some guys with bigger names but not producing as well.

From COTS:
August 31, 2016

Postseason eligibility lists established (midnight ET). To be eligible, a player must be a bona fide member of a qualifying team August 31 and remain a bona fide member through end of the applicable Postseason series.

September 1, 2016
Active player limit increased from 25 to 40

The post-season eligibility rules are a little more complicated than that simple "To be eligible" sentence from COTS.

Thanks, man. Looks like they are finally realizing they need to go big with a true tear down. They have no other way, can't just be .450-.500 every year, their attendance already sucks, they are already the As of Chicago.

So who do we want there? Quintana would of course be amazing but would cost a shitload of prospects. Their pen has a couple good arms but not many. Robertson is not as bad as he looks this year, Jones maybe.

Can Robertson be had at a discount, considering his poor showing? Probably only if they go into fire sale mode.

Maybe, also he's getting paid a huge amount so if we absorb a lot of it maybe we don't give up much talent. But I would go with cheaper less known names like Duke or Jones or Jennings

I honestly think we're going to get Chapman...and it makes me feel dirty.

Sounds like a bit of wishful thinking. So what kind of package do we need to give up to outbid the Cubs or arrangers or ?

He's a rental, so I'd guess Arroyo will get it done.

Chapman is going to be a Cub. Or maybe Nat or Indian. No way a Giant.

Andrew Cashner would be a good fit in the bullpen, but San Diego's asking price might be too high. Also, with the Giants only having a dependable 2/5 of a starting rotation right now, maybe he could take a spot in the rotation.

A lot of buzz about Cashner right now.

What would he cost?

Blach?
Jordon Johnson?
Andrew Suarez?
Austin Slater?
McParker?

I have no idea what position the Pads are looking for. I would guess pitching, but :noidea:

Buster Olney says we are looking at the Phils' Gomez and Brewers' Jeffress as far as relievers go
