I mentioned on a different thread that an Ackley for D. Brown would be nice for both teams.

Another trade that should happen and would not cost them a fortune would be Josh Willingham. He can play LF as well as DH, RH, $7M salary (so about $4M still owed), and is a professional hitter. What would it cost us? Maurer? Ramirez? Wouldn't be much, but it should be done soon before .500 disappears in the rear-view mirror.

Imagine him in LF and Morales as DH. Hart can play some RF at times and 1B giving them a platoon at several positions. This would be a halfway decent lineup or in Mariners terms....an All-Star lineup.

Josh Willingham would be a solid addition, but would the twins really want Maurer or Ramirez?

A lineup of:
1. James Jones (CF)
2. Michael Saunders (RF)
3. Robinson Cano (2B)
4. Kendrys Morales (DH)
5. Kyle Seager (3B)
6. Josh Willingham (LF)
7. Justin Smoak (1B)
8. Mike Zunino (C)
9. Brad Miller/Nick Franklin (SS)

Would actually be really formidable, especially considering how well our pitching has been this year.

I don't really have a clue what they would take for him. He is 35 and a free agent at years end so not sure if that gets it done or not. He wouldn't be worth a top prospect I know that, but not sure anymore if we have top prospects...lol.

Platoon Hart and Smoak at 1B would be nice as well I think.

Forgot that his contract was up at the end of the year. Thought it had another year left on it after that. I suppose they would be willing to take a flier on Ramirez or Maurer in exchange for half a year of a left fielder coming off the worst year of his career.

Thaat's a pretty decent lineup, especially spots 2-6. But, Willingham and Morales would represent an investment of $11-16.5 million depending on how much of Willingham's contract the Twins were willing to eat. Have the Mariners ever, in the history of the franchise, increased payroll by that much after the season started?

Ahhhh, come on man!! What about JJ at the #1 spot? 1-6 looks solid to me, but it's all a pipe dream. You have to think like the M's FO........think Xavier Nady type of earth shattering moves.:laugh3:

Keahleone would have found a way to put a positive spin on it.

You guys need to stop "wet dreaming" over Morales resigning here, it would've happen by now and honestly he's been sitting on his arse doing nothing, I don't think would be very helpful and there would a ton of threads about his lack of hitting....

I do like NW trade idea, if the Twinkies actually see some thing in either of these two, :L we could count it as a good steal....

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, the Cubs have "inquired about receiving a competitive-balance draft pick and the accompanying bonus-pool money" as part of a return package for right-hander Jeff Samardzija.

This would require that a trade get done by Thursday's first round. Passan suspects that the Rockies, who have a competitive-balance pick at 35th overall, could be the team that the Cubs are talking to. Samardzija was shelled for eight earned runs in three innings Sunday by the Brewers but still owns a shiny 2.54 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 67/23 K/BB ratio in 78 total frames this year. He can become a free agent after the 2015 season.

-------------------------

We also have one of those picks to trade. I would deal it for him and then judge by trade deadline where we are and either keep him and try to re-sign him or deal him for something of use. Of course our pick is #74 which means Rockies have the clear advantage in that type of deal.

There were a number of guys from the Seahawks/Mariners boards who never made the switch. He was one of them, I have no clue where he is at now. Same goes for Kagezilla, I know you were a big fan of his.

Samardzija is an interesting idea. I always think of Samardzija as some young pitcher just breaking into the league then I realize he will already be 30 next season. I think he is a free agent in 2016.

Ya he is older than most people think. Not sure if he played minor league ball then went and played football at N.D. or what. I thought he was a free agent at years end, but don't hold me to that.

You are right. Arb eligible next year, free agent in 2016.

Gives the Cubs a little versatility with him. He should be traded by the Cubs kinda how Felix probably should have been traded by the Mariners since the chance of the mariners being a contender during his prime is low. Anyway gives the Cubs the option to trade him by this seasons trade deadline or by next.

Yes, but a big advantage for a team obtaining him to get him now. If they get him this year versus next year once the season starts is that the obtaining team would still get a draft pick for him if he signed elsewhere. Makes him worth more.
