I just can't even imagine why people would even suggest that KD would want to A. Leave the best team in the league to play for the Clippers & B. Wants to play with LBJ when he had that opportunity prior to going to GS. Wow.
It's fucking ridiculous, honestly.

Interesting to consider if this was the Clips plan all along. Let's say they didn't want to pay him the Max. They could have let him walk. Or they could have signed him ... waited until he had a good/healthy steak ... then get as much as they could for him.

If so, they did pretty well ... much better than just letting him walk last off-season.
True, but they didn't have to get him on the hook for 5 years if they planned to trade him all along. A 3 year deal would've done the trick without seeming egregious.

Not necessarily. Look at Toronto. Pretty much everyone, myself included, said that team had maxed out and should blow it up yet they kept bringing everyone back. But they kept making smaller personnel changes (like nailing the OG pick, picking up Van Vleet, etc) and a big change in their style of play and for the first time, they are REAL contenders to actually make the Finals, not just your 50 win pretenders. Detroit could stall out at 4th or 5th with a Griffin/Drummond team for the next 5 years. Or maybe they tool around the margins, nail the right combo, and like Toronto, end up with a legit team.

Being real contenders to make the Finals doesn't mean they are real contenders.

The only reason this is true is because Cleveland has fallen apart. Raptors would have a zero percent chance of beating the Dubs or Rockets in the Finals.

Could Detroit be that team? Maybe. Still not good enough to win if they ever get there. Blake ain't winning any rings in detroit.

Sixers are among several teams that have reached out to Memphis about Evans. But the Griz want a 1st rounder which it doesn't seem like anyone is willing to do that.

You don't think if he had mentioned he wanted to play with LBJ that Cle would've made that happen when he was a FA?

Sure.

But he didn't ever say that and Cleveland was coming off a championship.

He's been performing like one this season tho. But his past injury history would scare me off too.

I think Philly should think about pulling the trigger since they're likely to get the Lakers 1st round pick which should be a top 10 pick

If you're in the Finals, you're a real contender. Doesn't matter who the favorite is. And I'm pretty sure 99.9% of teams would consider a success if they built a roster capable of getting there. Your standards are far too high

Their own pick is mid-first range right now. Lou Williams was had for a late first last year. Evans shouldn't worth that much more than Lou IMO.

They won't be in Staples by the time they get a banner.

Even if they get one, they won't get to enjoy it long. Pretty sure the Clippers winning a title is mentioned in the Bible as one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Would make a lot of sense for Monroe, who could step into a starting job. At this point, I don't think he's looking to be an add on to a contender but playing for another big contract and another starting gig.

Which is why I think he will go to a contender.

Remember how Biyombo parlayed a Toronto Playoff series into 80 million dollars?

The Pelicans are penny pinching because they are planning to max Boogie.

No way they keep Monroe if they lock up Cousins.

He could start for the Cavs.

He could play close to starter minutes with the Celtics.
