m Brown of Yahoo Sports reports that the Indians have acquired Hunter Wood from the Rays.
No word yet on what the Rays may receive in return. The 25-year-old hurler owns a 2.48 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 24/7 K/BB ratio across 29 innings at the big league level this season.

  • Mariners acquired INF Daniel Castro from the Dodgers for INF/OF Kristopher Negron; assigned him to Triple-A Tacoma.
Castro, 26, has spent the entire 2019 season in the Dodgers' minor league system and was batting .241/.304/.295 in 185 plate appearances at Triple-A. But he is about seven years younger than the 33-year-old Negron.

  • KRISTOPHER NEGRONOF, LOS ANGELES DODGERS

Dodgers acquired INF/OF Kristopher Negron from the Mariners for INF Daniel Castro.
Negron is a career .216/.289/.328 hitter in parts of six seasons at the MLB level, but the 33-year-old can play all around the diamond defensively and will be of some short-term use for the Dodgers while Enrique Hernandez and Chris Taylor work through their respective injuries.

rewers acquired RHP Jordan Lyles from the Pirates for RHP Cody Ponce.
Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray of The Athletic were first with the news. Lyles got torched by the Cardinals in his final start with Pittsburgh and holds an ugly 5.36 ERA in 82 1/3 innings this season, but his strikeout rate (9.8 K/9) is intriguing and the Brewers have been desperate for rotation help.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Phillies have acquired Jason Vargas from the Mets.
The Mets are also sending cash to the Phillies in the deal and are expected to receive catching prospect Austin Bossart in return. Vargas has had some hiccups this month but mostly pitched well since returning from the injured list in late May with a 3.34 ERA over 12 starts. He figures to bump Zach Eflin from the rotation.

Buxton and Kiriloff based on the latest reports. That is the most epic "Go fuck yourselves" that I'd ever say.

I saw some dipshit on twitter say he thought Buxton for Wheeler was fair.

Haha

ndy Martino of SNY.tv hears from a rival executive that they "fully expect" the Astros to acquire Zack Wheeler from the Mets.
Martino hears from other sources that the Braves, Brewers, Yankees, and Athletics could be among the clubs involved in talks. However, there's a lot of smoke with the Astros at the moment, suggesting that they could indeed be the favorites. The Mets have also discussed trading Noah Syndergaard, but the pricetag will be much higher than Wheeler since he carries another year of team control. Wheeler, an impending free agent, holds a 4.71 ERA and 137/34 K/BB ratio over 124 1/3 innings.
why does anyone want him?:suds:

on Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Astros are showing continued interest in Tigers left-hander Matthew Boyd.
We know the Astros are also interested in Zack Wheeler, but the situations are very different between the two pitchers. Wheeler will hit free agency following the season while Boyd is under team control through 2022. Morosi hears that the Tigers have asked for Kyle Tucker in return, which sounds like a reasonable request. Wheeler wouldn't cost nearly as much.:suds:

ark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Red Sox are unlikely suitors for Edwin Diaz, Shane Greene, and Raisel Iglesias.
Alex Speier of the Boston Globe and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic are hearing the same in regard to Diaz. It makes sense, as the Red Sox just don't have a strong enough farm system to get the Mets to bite here. It appears that Boston will set their sights to lesser names to upgrade their bullpen.:suds:

I'm sure the Indians are thrilled their new addition is currently throwing punches in a game.
