Rosenthal On Marlins, Rays, White Sox, Reds ? MLB Trade Rumors

"On the other hand, the Rays could consider moving a series of veterans if they become sellers, according to Rosenthal. Having dropped well off the pace (9.5 games back in the AL East), Tampa Bay could potentially deal away not only ace David Price but also players like Ben Zobrist and Matt Joyce.

Another team worth watching closely, in Rosenthal’s estimation, is the White Sox. While Chicago will surely wait to see how the team performs with Chris Sale and Jose Abreu back in action, Rosenthal says that middle infielders Alexei Ramirez and Gordon Beckham could be attractive to clubs like the Blue Jays, Giants, and others who may be in the market for second basemen."

As the only person in California who follows the White Sox closely, I'll mention that they won't be sellers this year, they look to make a push next year, and Ramirez (especially) and Beckham will be wanted there. Ramirez is under contract through 2016, and Beckham is Arb3 next year.

Possibly Adam Dunn would be available at the deadline, as he is off the books next year and the Sox will use that money to get some bullpen arms and maybe another starter. Dunn is actually sort of productive this year...in a contract year of course. Of course the Giants won't be interested.

But if the brass thinks we need a 2B, I do like the Zobrist idea.

I would tend to agree re the CWS. Having won the bidding war for Abreu and seeing him pan out, I would think they would be optimistic about things, ie, not sellers.

And, yes, no thank you to Adam Dunn.

If it does not improve their standing, they may be sellers...

They have a decent 2B there...

Not sure i follow this post. The Sox will not sell any players they want for a run next year, which surely includes Ramirez and Beckham

I didn't even think of Zobrist, but definitely would like to acquire him. Starting 2B who can also play corner OF, SS

Abreu just went deep off Kershaw, Sox up 2-0

MSG with Marcus Semien and Leurys Garcia, couldn't the White Sox trade GB?

Perhaps if their window was 2-3 yrs away, but the luck they got with Abreu pushed the timetable up a bit. Beckham may finally be showing the fulfillment of promise when he was considered a 'can't miss' prospect. He's only 27.

Those 2 guys are still prospects now, totally unproven. Semien just got sent to AAA to make room for Abreu coming back for example.

One thing I just read about Abreu, apparently he doesn't like Puig. And since he's the Doggies' best player, I'm liking Abreu's style on that one :10:
