I was at that game, too. Didn't exactly notice Clarkson. To be honest, the only time you noticed Clarkson all year was when he fell. Which he did. A lot.

I believe that there will be 2 expansion teams in 2017, in Canadian cities so they can get larger expansion fees, to go with the centennial of the league the other two I expect will be the Panthers and possibly the Coyotes relocating. I still think that Portland will end up with a team before Vegas thoughWell, contraction will never, ever ever happen, so the less it's talked about the better.
If expansion had to happen, I would be fine with 2 teams. 4 is a very, very dangerous thinning of the talent pool and in places like KC and Vegas, a risky proposition for a league in which a third of the teams aren't exactly the steadiest financially.
You were at the game in jersey tooI was paying attention it was the first time seeing him play at a game since he left to go home. I was right in front of the goal where Elias deked Reimer out of his jock

Shouldn't they have stopped the play with a fan on the ice?
Yeah, I think the bolded part above plays a prominent role, also if it is news about a team that doesn't have a huge representation on this board (Winnipeg, Carolina are a couple of examples), the Ongoing NHL thread can be used as a catch-all. That said, if you want to create a new thread, feel free to do so.
well as i stated ... when you move a team to city for ZERO or you can create one there and get $250 million instead ... id say it does matter
Id say the best way to go about getting teams from a business standpoint is (proviso: cdn dollar stays arounf 90 to 95 cents)
Toronto: expand
Quebec City: expand
Seattle: move
Milwaukee or KC: move
what prospective owner (in any sport?) today would be ok with paying 250 mill to establish a new team in a market not of their choice![]()
Speaking of the Hurricanes, where's Bizzle?
He still hasn't forgiven me for 'shopping his kid wearing Sabres gear.
This is life, the one you get so go and have a ball, because the world don't move, to the beat of just one drum. What might be right for you, may not be right for some. You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have my opening statement..sit ubu sit. Good dog.
If Carolina switches to the West, I guess the current system can be changed to a free-for-all where you qualify for the playoffs based on conference standing alone, right?

The other team Patrick mentioned, per his source: the Carolina Hurricanes. Owner Peter Karmanos is looking to sell for an "exorbitant amount,' according to Patrick, so he said the end result could be a Vegas move. The Hurricanes have missed the playoffs the last five years, play in a non-traditional market and have uncertainty at the top of the organization, so there are dots to connect.[/I]
Would be a terrible mistake.
USA Hockey youth registration numbers:
North Carolina
2002-03: 3,795
2012-13: 6,209
Ten-Year Growth: 2,414 (63.6%)
Large number of northern transplants, tons of tech startups for sponsorship, base of very large companies continuing to move people there. young, somewhat affluent fanbase. Plus the franchise is a cup winner. That should buy some leeway before pulling the plug.
