Possible Snag In Deal Between Orioles, Yovani Gallardo

"This offseason’s signing splurge notwithstanding, the O’s have generally been hesitant about any sort of major free agent signing under Peter Angelos’ ownership. On several occasions, the Orioles have backed out of agreements with players such as Will Clark, Aaron Sele, Grant Balfour and Jair Jurrjens due to complications that arose from those players’ physicals."

A lot of ex-Rangers involved it seems.

Now that the Jay Bruce trade has fallen through and Hamilton is on the DL I wonder if there will be any rumors connecting us to Bruce.

Romeo could probably give us a better prognosis but it doesnt seem crutches and a return date of 8 weeks from now is just inflammation?

That doesn't seem right to me either.

Josh probably has no nothing left in those knees. You can shoot him up with Cortisone over and over, but if he doesn't have any cartilage left what's the point? He probably has the joints of an 80 year old after all those hard drugs.

That would be my guess as well, I don't see the guy playing much baseball in the future. I just honestly think his body is shutting down and he probably isn't long for the game

If he needs to have surgery, Cortisone, and a stem cell treatment just to be able to walk without pain...oh well least the Angels gotta pay him to be hurt.

The 8 weeks includes going through a full Spring Training schedule, from my understanding.

Seems like they were right on Sele, he wanted 3 years, they insisted on 2 after checking out his shoulder

He ended up pitching 2 solid seasons in Seattle 17-10 & 212 innings, then 15-5 215 innings, before pitching only 160 innings and going 8-9 the next season and his career seemed to bottom out after that

Clark was actually pretty injury prone in his time with Baltimore, so maybe there is something to be said of their skepticism, although Clark was pretty dang good when he did play still

Gallardo? who knows, he's knocked a lot of tread off those tires without succumbing to a major injury thus far, might also be something to their worry based on what they've seen

I've also been interested in Bruce but alas he's also LHed but that might set up a good platoon with him and Ruggiano

But that 12.5 million dollar price tag is awfully steep, but luckily we could cut bait after this season (1m buyout)

Jose Reyes was suspended "with pay" until his abuse case is settled.

So I'm wondering, is this really fair to the Rockies? The "corporation" dictates he can't play for the team, but they demand the team keep paying him.
