Because it's totally believable for the Patriots to think the Broncos would plan for Ryan Mallet instead of Brady because he went home sick. That makes sense. Totally worth missing a day of practice.

It's also totally 'believable' that missing a single day of practice would affect Tom Brady in any way, shape or form.

They're up to their usual tricks. If he were really sick, the media never gets wind of it. The Pats would never let something like that get out.

The media got wind of it because they saw him pull up to practice, then not show up on the field during the media allowed portion, then leave practice. This is routine when any player is sick.

But yeah, keep believing that it was somehow a ploy for the Patriots to get the Broncos to think Ryan Mallet was starting. If it was, wouldn't they just come out and say that Mallet is ready if he is needed? Why wouldn't they just come out and say Brady is a game time decision?

Could have been handled in another way if he were really sick. If he were really sick they cover it.

Like they owe the media anything.

The Pats are a very tight lipped organization. Yes? They don't let things 'leak', including health of players.

They simply don't want the Broncos getting wind of Brady being ill if he actually is.

Seriously, when was the last time you heard of a Patriot being sick? How often does this sort of thing get broadcast?

Especially that it's Tom Brady.

Now add in the Pats track record of 'misinterpreting' the rules and you can see why I came to the conclusion that Tom wasn't ill at all.

"An irony about the Brady-Manning comparison: If Wes Welker drops another potential touchdown pass as he did in the Broncos' Sunday win over San Diego, he'll have a hand in watering down both quarterbacks' resumes, since his drop of a Brady pass against the Giants in the Super Bowl a few years ago is the only reason Brady isn't already up there with Montana"

Since Brady's final ring in 2004, Brady is 8-7 in the playoffs and Manning is 6-6, with both going to two Super Bowls, Brady going 0-2 and Manning 1-1<br>

Manning invented the silent count. Brady invented getting away with not throwing the ball.

IE Manning invented techniques that revolutionized football.

Brady made a mistake and helped screw up the NFL rule book with stupid judgment calls

Tom Brady is making his 8th conference championship game appearance, breaking a tie with Joe Montana for most appearances by a QB in conference championship games since the AFL-NFL merger.

Brady is 5-2 in conference championship games, Montana was 4-3

Here's a look at the 12 quarterbacks that have played in the most conference championship games since the AFL-NFL merger and how their records compare:

Manning didn't have TE Julius Thomas when the Broncos lost at the Patriots earlier this season due to injury

ESPN Stats and Info:

"Peyton Manning: 74.5 comp pct, 12 TD, 1 Int when targeting Julius Thomas this season. Thomas missed Denver's Week 12 loss to the Patriots."

Brady and Manning are coddled by the NFL. Both of them would have been done already if they played in the 70s and 80s. Rule changes have allowed them to play many more games than than if they played during a different era.
