I'd rather see Serena tie Chrissy and Martina's record at Wimbledon, and break it at the US Open anyway.
Me too. Losses usually fire her up and she does better. Since she is aging, she really needs to get it done soon. We know she has the fire within her to pull it off. No one feels up to par everyday. Sometimes no matter how hard you try you just can't get going.

Those pictures of her breaking that racket was great. She looked good breaking it. Maybe she should have broken one or two during the match she loss today.

Tough to win majors when you get old. Too many matches in too short a time. She has a better chance in the others because of her serve.

I projected Venus out in the second round. Surprised Serena laid an egg though.

Weren't they?! I thought so too. It shows how well she handles adversity.

She will do well in surfaces where she can overpower her opponents in short power rallies and impose her strong serve like at Wimby and maybe USO. Otherwise I think she is done winning the FO, because she has really aged. If she wins at any other slam events it will be because of the weak field and not anyone stepping it up mentally and physically. The dominance aura can help her win a couple more if the field cooperates.

Are you frigging kidding me? She was the defending champion for crying out loud. The pundits said the same thing when she was bounced off in the first round in 2012 before she came back the following year to win. I thought you claim you know tennis? Your analytic acuity is suspect. Everyone gets off-day. Serena just defended the Italian open and this year has beaten her closest rivals. What age? Do you know how old Martina Navratilova was before she retired and the last time she won? Who is fitter than Serena even at this age? I think you are not serious.

You're usually very lucid about tennis.

It's weird seeing such stupidity from you.

Yes, it is a good thing you slept Simtast. It was not pretty for Serena. She said that she just didn't have it and could not get it together today. It happens, so onward to Wimbledon. Hope she wins that one. She doesn't have a lot of points to defend there, so it could be a bonus for her.

Yeah. Serena couldn't keep the ball in play.

She reminded me of Clijsters or James Blake on a bad day, where the errors pile up and they are too aggressive and can't stay in rallies.

She could have tried just being patient, but she didn't.

I'd rather see Serena win more AOs and FOs, since those are what she has the least of. (USO and AO tied).

I'd rather see her get what she has the least of, so I can say she has won every major at least X times.

if her us opens and aussie open counts are tied, then your entire first sentence is contradictory and nonsensical.

i just like the idea of her tying and breaking records at her favorite places, and hopefully, do at least one of them in her home country.

if it happens somewhere else, i'm sure i'll be fine.

i'm also pretty sure it was obvious that i was trying to make light of a terrible early round loss at a major, though...

Venus is done and Serena is on her way. Age takes hold of us all. Serena will go down as a top 100 tennis player all-time. I have to admit that to myself and have. Denial is a horrible way to live life.

Townsend was very impressive in her her first major draw.

She's the future of American women's tennis far more than the likes of Stephens or Keys.

IF she starts devoting a lot more time to fitness, she could dominate the tour, IMO.

Seems you're still in denial.

I think Serena is much higher than top 100. I have to admit I once loved watching tennis but there just isn't any interesting players anymore. They should go back to wood rackets and make the game interesting again...

Serena is top 5-6 all time very easily.

Anybody who says "top 100" for her is either trolling, an ignorant piece of shit, or both.

Pretty sure everybody already knows the case here.

Saying Serena is top 100 is like saying Jordan was top 100. :L

I only saw highlights, and listened to the commentary afterward. The the broadcasters seemed to like her fitness as of now.

From the highlights, before the points would start, I was worried about her movement, but she seemed to be able to get to balls, so I don't know if it's that big of a deal.
