Has Serena's game changed since working with Patrick Mouratoglou?

Or is it more about the confidence of working with someone like Mouratoglou?

The biggest change is she finally went to synthetic strings. She waited way too long. She gets far more topspin compared to before she worked with Patrick.

My understanding is that Patrick got her to change strings as well as hit with more spin, which she does these days. She hits with a lot of topspin from both sides. Like most players these days, about the only time she hits flat is her first serve.

Hmm.

Just from an entertainment perspective, I liked watching her flatter shots, because they were faster shots.

Similarly, with Li, I didn't like watching her as much after Carlos Rodriguez got her to hit with more topspin. It was more fun to watch her trade blows hitting flatter.

I'm quite certain it was only after 22 and 23. She may keep it going until she gets to 25, which she no doubt has as a goal.

IMO, if she gets to 25, I hope she gets more. I like it when records are broken by more than the minimum amount.

Back to Venus. Either from 2005 or 2007, I was rooting for her to win the AO or FO, because she'd never won those.

In my 2010 FO predictions, I even had a Venus vs. Serena Finals.

Well, in 2017, she came close to winning the AO. But still didn't.

I hope if she wins another major, it's not one of the ones she's already won. I just think it would be cool to win something else.

I also hope she's healthy enough to keep competing in every major, so I can keep watching her.

The clock is definitely ticking for Venus. She can make a strong run at Wimbledon and the Aussie Open, but I can't see her going deep in Paris or the USO. The faster the court plays, the better for Venus. The USO is probably out of reach for her unless she takes time off before. If she plays anything close to a full season, she'll be out of gas that deep into the year. Really sad that she's not so healthy and really impressive what she's been able to accomplish with her condition.
