He's also out there with an interim OC and head coach. This season is a mess, some solid hires this winter could fix a lot of those issues (along with some FA/draft attention to that OL).
But you are seeing them right? A lot of people believe a QB can be ruined early. I don't subscribe to that theory, there are plenty of franchise QBs who go to bad situations. By definition if you are picked in the top 3 in most drafts you are going to a bad situation. Still I do believe overcoming being shell shocked will be a big task. And none of this explains away his inacuracy.

also not a big believer in a QB being ruined. If he has it he can eventually figure it out despite how he starts out. More likely the guy just never had it as it is hard to hit on QBs.

Heard this a lot when it came to Browns' QBs. Now I can agree Couch may have been ruined as he was physically beat up. Thinking Weeden and Quinn just were not good.

For Caleb, a lot depends on who those next hires are. Inaccuracy is often bad route running and bad protection in disguise. I haven't watched enough Bears football this year to say either way.

QBs can be ruined early (just ask David Carr, who was beaten into oblivion by a terrible O-line), or at least lose their entire rookie contract years to ineptitude, setting their careers back considerably. The Jets should be punished for their misdeeds: look how Darnold and Geno have become at least league average starters elsewhere. Maybe Zach Wilson is the next rehab project?

I mentioned Couch for same reason as Carr but think physically ruined is another story. I don't think they can be mentally ruined simply by not playing well....if they can they were just not going to succeed in the first place IMO.

I think Carr was mentally broken too, shell-shocked....seeing ghosts.

i can't believe what I'm reading here. Sports is 90% mental for most all players at some point.

HS, COLLEGE, PROS...it's coming.

Possible but if true he was never going to succeed (even if not physically beaten up). Pretty sure Darnold made the seeing ghosts comment before and he may have figured it out.....meaning while it didn't work out in NY but he was not ruined.

what are you disagreeing with if it was something I said? For me, it's that guys like Quinn and Weeden, for instance, were not ruined by the Browns. They simply were not good.

Not Browns specific, either....More than likely a QB was just not good and was not ruined by team that drafted him.

That seems to be the case with the Browns, just bad selections other than Couch and Baker.

Yep....I don't think it mattered who took Weeden or Quinn. Guessing this is the same for most failed QBs no matter who picked them (meaning team didn't ruin them, just not good). Guess to be fair Couch may have been ruined due to getting beat up behind a terrible line for an expansion team. He's one if picked by a different team I do think he might have been successful.

Just think the ruined term is overused.

I watched the last game again last night just to confirm my opinion. Man when he's good he's just so good. He made a few plays with his athleticism to avoid a rush and they he whipped it on the receiver. This is why I believe he will be good. But I also saw him miss open receivers a lot, there was nothing wrong with the route run and he had time, and being jittery in the pocket was confirmed.
