Pretty 1-sided 2nd round in the Q. After 3 games, 3 of the 4 series' are 3-0 in favour of the higher seed. The 1 higher seed in danger of being upset? The Quebec Remparts find themselves trailing the R-N Huskies 2-1.

My presence in the building last night wasn't enough as Portland takes Game 3, 3-1.

Well, the Tigers are done like dinner - No shame in losing to the defending WHL champs who are probably even better this season. It was gravy to get past Saskatoon in the opening round.

Portland ups the lead to 4-0 with 7:25 left. A solid Chiefs season will be ending in roughly 10 minutes or so.

Well 3 of the 4 series in the Q are over and all 3 were sweeps by the favourite. The only series still going has the potential to be a mild upset. The Huskies lead Patrick Roy, Grigorenko & co. 3-1. The Remparts were a good team even when Grigorenko was gone to the Sabres. I thought they had a good shot to win it all when I found out he was being sent back down. They may still but you have to wonder where Grigorenko's head and heart are after getting a taste of the NHL and still receiving an NHL salary, which I understand Roy agreed to pay as part of the agreement with the Sabres to send him back. Once his Q season is over, he either goes back to the Sabres or joins their AHL affiliate.

Yeah, the Chiefs were in the same boat. Good year, beat their top rivals in the first round and got beat by a team that had to skirt outside the rules to get themselves out of the cellar. Not a whole lot you can do about that.

Normally I would root for Portland, but after the sanctions I think I'll root for Kamloops in the conference final. Looks like it'll be Edmonton/Calgary in the east. Should be a good series, though I expect Edmonton to make it back to the finals again.

Pretty funny that the two WHL representatives at the Memorial Cup this season could be a team with heavy sanctions (Portland) and a host team who failed to win a single playoff game (Saskatoon). I might have to root for the QMJHL champions this year :D

Brendan Gaunce is stepping it the fuck up - 16 points in 10 games in the playoffs so far.
was 60 in 60 in the regular season.

Roberto Luongo and Patrice Bergeron join a group of local investers to help keep their former team from relocating.

QMJHL?s Acadie-Bathurst Titan sold to local investors - New Brunswick - CBC News

I dislike the team, but I like being able to dislike them so I'm glad they aren't going anywhere. Northeastern NB hasn't had many feel good moments the past 5 years or so. The economy is shit with lots of mines and mills closing. The local high-school basketball team had 7 players killed in a car accident about 5 years ago, and this is the community that Luc Bourdon called home. I'm happy they didn't lose their team and appear to finally have a group of competent owners.

Apparently Sean Couturier chipped in as well. He never played for them but his father is GM and as a result he spent a lot of his younger years there. People in Bathurst claim him as their own which is reasonable, even though he was born in Phoenix and spent time in Quebec before relocating to Bathurst. Not sure what percentage of the team he will own. Regardless of how much it is I'm sure he will be a silent partner, but does this technically make him his father's boss?

That's cool. It's always nice to see former players step up to support their teams. We had a similar situation here a few years ago. Daryl Porter (jackass) wanted to move the Tri-City Americans to Chilliwack because the Tri-City area was "not a feasible hockey market," or words to that effect. Although Chiefs fans dislike the Ams, we were pretty pissed and vocal in our support of the team and the US division owners all voted to block the move. The Ams stayed in Tri-City, being purchased by former Ams such as Stu Barnes and Olaf Kolzig, and Porter got an expansion team in Chilliwack. 8 years later the Ams are one of the most consistent and successful teams in the league, and Chilliwack, well they're in Victoria now.

That's the beauty of sports. No matter how much you might cheer against a team on the ice/field, you never cheer against them off of it. All teams are competitors in some ways, but partners in many others. You like to see them all do well in their existing locations, and hate to see any group of fans have to lose their team.

Not a fan of either players' actions to be honest, less so Iafrate's than Domi's. They both seem like assholes to me and it's no wonder they had a few run-ins while playing for opposite teams.

3rd round of the Q starts tomorrow night. The 4 remaining teams have lost a combined total of 3 games through the first 2 rounds. Things should finally get interesting.

In 1 semi, the Halifax Mooseheads will face the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. I'm hoping the Huskies win that one

In the other the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada take on the Baie Comeau Drakkar. I don't really care who wins that 1 but I figure the Aramda would have a better chance in the finals against Halifax so I guess I'm going for them. Or if the Huskies were to beat the Mooseheads, a Rouyn-Noranda vs Blainville-Boisbriand final would roll right off the tongue.
