I know he was drafted by the Suns BUT he went to the Rockets when the Suns traded him. When you trade a player who you drafted and you re-acquire him by FA/Trade, it is no longer the same thing as drafting him and keeping him for the entire time.

You think if the Heat won the title this year, I would've considered Beasley a part of the home grown talent just because drafted him even though he played on 2 other teams before he came back to Miami?

Sure, why not. You aided in his development. Correct?

There are no dollars that need to match for sign and trades. The only reason to do a sign and trade is so the player can get the fifth year of the contract. A team needs to gut their roster so his salary keeps them under the cap, but those players do not need to go back to miami. I would think Miami and the knicks are both wanting some picks in return, not players. Since all these players (unless they get hurt) all want to opt out after four anyway, whats the point of doing the sign and trade. He can go just like Howard went to the Rockets. 4 year max deal. You also need to realize, since LeBron took less money to go to the heat, his max deal is less than Carmellos, who took top dollar from denver already. He might want a two year deal so he can get back to max.

It was good talking to you, bksballer. I got kids to attend to. Don't feel too bad, you got two championships out of this fiasco. Much better than my team in nearly three times the history. Best of luck going forward.

From what I've read and heard, Pat Riley will not do a sign and trade to accommodate any player (Lebron, Wade, Bosh) that wants to leave. If he stays true to his work, then the only way Lebron could be a Clipper is what Sportsman was saying and have them dump players to teams with cap in unbalanced trades. So far there's been no real talk of that. But its unlikely we'll hear any actual trade rumors until Lebron actually states he'd like to play for the Clippers.

if LeBron tells him he is opting out im sure he will change his tune. if u can get a blake griffin level player u do it. leave the ego at the door

He just doesn't seem interested in staying in Miami. He's one of those players who will probably play on 4-5 teams in his career because he think his team is the only one in the league and therefore they should win a title every year.

Just compare his comments to chris bosh. Bosh is talking about how much he loves Miami and how he wants to stay while you do not hear a ounce of that from LeBron. There is a reason why wade will always be my favorite player. I respect LeBron for the player he is but he's definitely has done nothing to convince heat fans that he really wants to stay in Miami.

I really think that would be shitty if he does leave because Pat Riley did everything he could to put a winning team with him and he went to the finals four years straight - that's one hell of a run. Not even the Lakers with Magic Johnson went every year. I think he will opt out and sign a long term contract and in fact all three of them will if they want to win more championships.

Good at what?

Schooling your pre-teen ass on a forum?

Yea, I'm pretty good at that but that isn't something I'm going to brag about considering how easy it is.

You can't even form a proper sentence, beating you down is child's play.

I gotta agree with BK here(well not the he's leaving part). This is not Cleveland and Dan Gilbert....this is Pat Riley. Lebrons best option this year is to get the band back together and give Riley a chance to rebuild the team back into a title contender. You just can't be jumping from team to team when the going gets rough. He'd be leaving what is easily a title contending team depending on how Riley rebuilds and Riley obviously has a good track record. As I said some months ago, if goes to a 3RD team in his prime, he's out of the greatest of all time discussion for me. Stick it out with Miami and give Riley a chance to put the pieces together.

In the new CBA they actually have to come pretty damn close. Or in this case, Miami could take a load of draft picks and some type of trade exception. But it can't be one-sided.

IMO if he goes back to Cleveland, he is going back to win it for his hometown, won't hurt his legacy.

Exactly!! There are basically 3 reasons why I don't believe Lebron leaves:

1.) Lebron is very effected by how he is perceived publically. As has been pointed out, he has absolutely been destroyed by people ever since "The Decision". He has basically spent the past 4 years trying to re-build his image and knows that if he leaves another team, this soon, the damage to his image will be irreversible. Especially after making 4 straight finals with that team.

2.) He trusts Pat Riley. The east is the easier path to the finals and the main thing the Heat need is to re-tool the bench with some fresh players. Riley has shown that he can get valuable vets to take less money to come to Miami and have a shot at a ring. There's no reason to believe that he can't continue to do that.

3.) Where is he really going to go and have a better chance to win right away? The teams that he can be added to that would instantly become title favorites likely can't fit him under the cap without giving up much of what would make them attractive. Teams that can fit him under the cap, likely will still need at least another season or 2 to get the pieces that can help him win now.

Note on #3. I understand that adding Lebron to virtually any team makes them a contender almost instantly (especially in the East), but he does the same for the Heat by staying and allowing Riley to re-tool the bench.

Lebron would look really bad if he leaves Miami. To leave a team after all you did was make finals and win championships half of those times is just dumb. I would somewhat understand his move if the roster was going to be the same but as many as 14 of 15 players will be free agents. If I had to take a guess, excluding Lebron I see maybe 5 players at most returning (Wade, Bosh, Cole, UD, and Lewis or Beasley)

LeBron James reportedly doesn’t want to take a salary cut in order to save Heat owner Micky Arison money. That’s apparently not a new concern.

It’s been festering.

The Heat paid the luxury tax the previous two years, and they’ll pay it again this season. But in the last year, they’ve really dialed back their spending.

They amnestied Mike Miller.

Instead of using a draft pick to upgrade their roster, they used it as a sweetener to unload Joel Anthony’s contract.

They didn’t use the mid-level exception, their primary tool for adding another rotation-caliber player.
Miami has allowed its roster to stagnate and age, creating a lack of depth really showed in the Finals.

If the Heat had spent more to build a deeper team, maybe they’d be NBA champions – and not waiting on a mum LeBron.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN:

a victory for the Heat at this stage likely means getting James to commit for one more season. Again, this is not ideal. When that infamous “not five, not six …” speech was delivered, James was under the impression that he would be staying in Miami for a second long-term contract. Despite a strong and historic run, James isn’t ready to commit to that given the current state of the team.

The Heat are the favorites; this is not in question. But there is a window of doubt due to the way the season ended, Wade’s health and some bitterness James harbors that Micky Arison put the brakes on spending over the past year.

That is why his most likely path is to opt out of his contract after the draft so that he will maximize his flexibility while putting teams on the clock.

This would force the Heat to take action on the free-agent market to improve the roster and, essentially, spend money even though they are facing significant luxury-tax penalties. It would also buy time for James to meet with other teams and examine plans and for rival teams to make trades or signings to potentially make them more attractive. Some deals are more likely to happen in July rather than in late June.

LBJ will stay. I just don't see him leaving this year. Maybe next year if they fail.

I can see 2 and 3, but Lebron isn't affected by it, he went to Miami to win and he has done a hell of an amount of winning. 4 years, 4 Finals, 2 rings...could of been better but still great.

On #3 only way he would have to recruit another bigtime player to play with him, but he could just do that in Miami and it would make more sense.
Only team he would go to eventually is Cleveland, down the road IMO
