My college basketball thread is back for another season! And in case you forgot how it works, modern-day CBB schedules work in 3 parts:
November-December (We just sit back, watch some fun holiday tourneys, and start to learn what each team has.)
Early January-Mid February (The work portion, where everyone settles in and engage in conference warfare.)
Late February onwards (Only the strong will rise up and make the NCAA's!)

So starting tomorrow, I'll begin Part 1 of the 2019-20 season with Tuesday's slate of games. Oh, and if you want to share your fears about the FBI sniffing around your program, go right ahead!

Tuesday, November 5th

Whoa! This might be the greatest opening day for a college basketball season EVER!
Of course, there is the "Champions Classic" with Kansas facing Duke and Kentucky facing Michigan State. That's great enough, but also (for some odd reason) we're getting actual ACC conference games! Louisville goes to visit Miami, Georgia Tech is at NC State, and Virginia Tech goes to Clemson.

...But let's say you're not interested in any of that. Well, here are the games that you weirdos can watch instead:

Central Arkansas @ Baylor (12:00) (The first official game of the 2019-20 CBB season.)
Princeton @ Duquesne (6:00) (An in-state contest here.)
North Carolina A&T @ UNC-Greensboro (7:00)
Appalachian State @ Michigan (7:00)
Penn @ Alabama (8:00)
North Dakota State @ Kansas State (8:00)
Saint Mary's @ Wisconsin (9:00)
Utah @ Nevada (10:30)

And by the way, all of the times I list on this thread are all on the Eastern time zone. Enjoy, everyone!

11/5 recap

In the "Champions Classic", we got Duke winning a tough contest against Kansas. Oh, and Michigan State is ALREADY THE BIGGEST FLOP IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL HISTOR- oh wait, no they're not, because they lost to Kentucky... so Spartans fans should just relax.
What else happened on this first day of the CBB season? Let me see!

Louisville over Miami 87-74
Auburn over Georgia Southern 83-74
Saint Mary's over Wisconsin 65-63 in OT
UC-Riverside over Nebraska 66-47
(Whoopsie) {As you know, a "Whoopsie" loss is a loss that's gonna hurt your chances of making the NCAA's further down the road.}
Illinois over Nicholls State 78-70 in OT
Michigan over App. State 79-71
Washington Adventist over Howard 71-68 (Washington Adventist is a NAIA school, if you're wondering)
Yale over Stony Brook 74-69 in OT
Morehead State over Samford 90-86 in 2-OT's
Virginia Tech over Clemson 67-60
George Mason over Navy 68-55 in OT
Northeastern over Boston U. 72-67 (Northeastern starts it's 100th season of basketball with a win)
Penn over Alabama 81-80 (Whoopsie)
Little Rock over Missouri State 67-66
Georgia Tech over NC State 82-81 in OT
Davenport College over Grand Canyon 82-73
(Davenport is a Division II school)
Utah over Nevada 79-74

And finally, how about that kid Andrew Jones from Texas? Fresh off a battle with leukemia, and he scores 20 points in a win.

I was really surprised that Rice blew out Penn since they looked terrible against us while Penn beat Alabama.

Air Force plays at Army tonight.

I'd like to see Air Force join the Patriot League for non-football sports (football would be an FBS independent) in order to share a conference with Army and Navy. The geographical considerations would be offset by Air Force (and by extension, the federal government) helping the private schools in the conference with their travel costs.

Also tonight, Lipscomb plays at Tennessee State.

I have projected major membership changes in the OVC. Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State go FBS, while the Midwestern schools go to Midwest-based conferences. The OVC adds 8 schools located in Kentucky and Tennessee, some already in D1, others from D2 and the NAIA. Lipscomb is one of these schools, so that they can once again share a conference with Belmont.

Finally, Furman plays at Charleston Southern.

Due to my projections of many schools leaving the SoCon and Big South, the former conference admits the remaining schools in the latter that have not already been poached.
