Total, maybe? In the US, we have a federal tax which everyone pays, but the state tax varies widely. I suspect the Canadian taxes are a lot higher, particularly for high-income jocks.

I remember Sergei Federov mentioning this way back when he signed with Anaheim. Why would you leave a hockey hot bed where you're worshipped for a minor market and he said it's a lot easier getting out of bed in the morning when it's 70 degrees out.
