Taxes make signing a free agent harder.
Home games sell out even if they lose so winning doesn’t help owners money
Damn Kings fans don’t know anything about hockey so when we hired the hippie chick to curse the Canadiens we spelled it wrong

answer 1: owners have reluctance to do a proper rebuild at the right time, to chase the lucrative extra two home playoff games.
This is more of a factor for Canadian teams as their expenses are in US$, and revenue in $C
Also, key free agents to fill out the roster are at a tax disadvantaged to come to Canadian markers versus several US ones.
The stars that are drafted to Canadian teams are one thing, but it's those key support pieces that you can get the extra bang for the buck in some markets (TB).

answer 2: Canada is a socialist society, so we like to give to others. sorry, eh.

answer 3: Because colin campbell is a fucking criminal, and bettman can fuck off too.

After my team is out (December) I usually cheer for teams that do cool stuff like have minor celebrities involved or some kind of hand crank. Maybe a post game choreographed celebration.

40% of Canada has never seen a Canadian team win a cup.
Said in old man voice......"Back in my day men worked hard, they drank Molson and Budweiser...non of that gay shit today... Smoked unfiltered cigarettes and actually seen a real hockey team win a cup"

And I failed to mention an old man with a Canadian accent!

So it should have included that when not drinking beer we drank three day old stale Tim Hortons coffee black without any of that panzy soy milk.

Wait I finally got it! You can blame the curse on these two guys.

Looking The Curse Of Oak Island GIF by DefyTV

A team in canada can't win a cup until someone dies on oak island and they find gold.
Until then, they will continue to find drift wood on an island. Kind of like the talent the teams in canada have assembled. :behindsofa:
