Oh, I forgot...

46 Indian high school use the redskin name today. If it is an offensive term, why do they use it?

As for mascots, did the American-Indian used to look that way? Hell, I think they look freakin’ cool. Why are people so butt hurt about their own history? I don’t see Germany being called a Nazi country. I think their history is a bit worse. I don’t see Africa and their history being analyzed. They aren’t ashamed of enslaving people and murdering people.
And this is the fact that made me realize that the vast majority of NAs didn’t find the mascot offensive. I’m curious why any of the claimers of offense don’t address this fact.

Is it racist to say "that white guy"; "that black guy"; if not can we change the name on the uniform to "The Red Guys" because certainly I am trying to upset someone and make them feel bad when I use a descriptor like that. :yahoo:

Well, the word guy is offensive because it doesn’t include women. Just because there is no woman on any NFL roster doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. We should just accept it as possible...even though we all know it isn’t possible.

Also red indicates pigmentation. All pigmentation is racist. And apparently, the more pigmented you are, the more superior you are according to Nick Cannon, the biologist, the geneticist, the superior.

That’s it? That’s your best response to this conundrum in your position? Does it not, at least, make you raise your eyebrows To the possibility that the term is not as offensive to NAs as you seem to believe it should be? Clearly they don’t find it offensive in these communities.

it doesnt matter to them . they are on a crusade and they think this somehow will make them feel good

the net result is if you dont address family structure and education it wont matter what football teams are called in regards to their plight

The name change is about money plain n simple. So the person most responsible for the name being changed is Daniel Snyder.

Some great arguments by the way for keeping the name Redskins. Its too fuckin bad none of them were presented before the fact.

Years ago, I sent a proposal to the Redskins organization which would preserve their name and disarm complaints against it - change the logo and mascot.

some people are better off for it.

some people are absolutely losing their fucking minds because of it.

Of course some people lose their god damned minds when asked to do anything for other people. Usually those selfish fucktards make up some bullshit about “freedom” or just flat out deny what is abso-fucking-litely painfully onvious, when really they are just selfish assholes who arent interested in anything other than what makes themselves happy.

Exactly. These symbolic gestures mean nothing. This team not being called the redskins will have zero impact on the issues that really haunt the NA communities. But those are hard problems, its easier to look for symbolic gestures. Or lazier...

Its always about money. I really could give 2 fucks if the name changes or not. But lets make sure we know what this is. Quasi Extortion.

Since there is no connumdrum to my position, I’m not sure why more needs to be said.

It takes time and effort for school communities to change their mascot. Perhaps not all of them want to, especially when faced with the kind of histrionics on display, say, here.

The mascot offends some people, whether you like it or not. It always has, wether you like it or not.

THIS TIME the mascot offended enough of the right combination of people to force Danny to change.

Too bad for him, and for crybabies that have so much invested in the name Redskins that they need to carry on about it ad nauseum.

Who is on a crusade, do you think? It’s always a boogeyman with some people.

“Liberals.” “Antifa.” “Peaceniks.” “Hippies.”
“The gays.” “Transgendered people.”

Some people are scared of everybody, it seems.

FedEx was on a crusade? Really? A crusade for what purpose?

The redskins had to change their team name because of the breakdown of family structure?

What on earth are you talking about?

Hmmm. You don't see the conundrum? I think we now see the real issue. You believe it is offensive so everyone else must also. That works until others perceived offensives affect you, I bet?

You not being clear is one of the issues. That much is certain.

There is a middle ground to your logical fallacy, yes?

It is possible that somebody could not really know if it is racist - or at least not fully understand how other people find it racist, but believe that they do find it racist - and thus be generally supportive of a name change.

Is that something you can understand?

Also, you didnt address the rest of what I wrote.

You need to reread what you wrote. “Some people are just selfish assholes who arent interested in anything other than what makes themselves happy.”

We understand you are talking about those who wanted to Keep the name, expected it really, but flip it around to those who wanted it changed. The selfishness of what would make them happy applies to them as well. In fact I would say more. Those who wanted to keep it never marched down the street... but those who wanted change bitched and moaned. That is the definition of selfishness. When you’re on the side who won the fight its easy to call out the other side as being selfish for not seeing things your way.

Bottom line: look in the mirror at being selfish. Your happy the name changed right.

Your own point made.
