UNLV would crush UK.
UNLV would crush UK.
It's not any great surprise, but I think Duke.
They have an experienced backcourt, and excellent three point shooters and can space the floor.
I really think they match up well with UK, and exploit UK's weakness, their backcourt. I think the Harrison twins are overrated and Jones is better than Ulis.
I really don't even think Duke needs to play that well to beat them.
I also think Wisconsin with their three point shooting can take them down and again, I don't even think they need to play anywhere near a perfect game to beat them, just have a good shooting night.
''I really don't think Duke needs to play that well to beat them"'.....there went your credibility flying out the window. Okafor is a stud player no doubt, but he hasn't gone up against a team with 4 guys his size as big(or bigger) than he is and equally as talented. As to Jones, taking advantage of UK's ''weak'' backcourt, all 4 guys UK plays will be 1st round picks at some point. Duke would need to be hot from 3 and somehow stay out of foul trouble against UK's superior size and depth. In short, they'd have to play light out
And what would you like to hear?
That any team in the country needs a perfect game to beat your team?
I might say that, if I hadn't watched any of their games.
Your point guard turns the ball over 6 times, and he wasn't great last year, his backup is a 5'9" freshman, and his brother is a streak shooter. That game becomes very tenuous if Ulis doesn't have a great game.
Have you watched Duke play? You do know they have more than Okafar in their frontcourt, don't you?
Just telling it like it is. All the things you just said are true.....and UK still went into Louisville's house and beat them by 8, in a game that I promise you, was the biggest game of the year for Louisville. I've seen Duke several times this year, mostly against cupcakes. I don't think they could have won in that atmosphere yesterday, can't wait to find out
I watched the 1991 UNLV team play all year during a period of my life where college basketball was literally my life. That was some kind of team. I didn't think they would lose and they lost.
I realize all of the pundits have thrown their ballots onto UK, but what I saw yesterday was a team with major flaws. AT THIS POINT in the season, I think they'll lose. It's just my opinion.
You, as a basketball fan should want to see a championship team that is a great TEAM, not just a collection of so many players with talent and size that they wear everybody down by attrition.
This is going to be the theme of the season obviously.
So, give your choice and back it up with reasoning.
Apologizes if this is buried in another thread somewhere.
I already have my pick and I've seen everybody in the Top 15 play. Give it later.
Not sure what your point is. I don't think any reasonable people are saying UK can't lose. The possibility is certainly real. But suggesting they're going to lose because UNLV did is kinda dumb.
By the time you get to the Final Four most games are pretty close to coin flips. UK might lose and they might not, but right now it looks like they are the best in the country.
Again, I must be missing your point. Of course UK has flaws. EVERY team has flaws. Pointing out flaws is utterly meaningless. It's a matter of having strengths that overcome those flaws, and it looks to me like UK makes up for their flaws with ease. Yeah, their half court offense and perimiter shooting are both suspect, but when they're holding their opponents to 25 points a half and getting tons of offensive rebounds, and 2nd chance points, they don't need to have a great half court offense or three point shooting.
What were those great UCLA teams that everybody slobbers all over? They were a collection of so many players with talent and size that wore everybody down by attrition.
Don't ever fucking tell me what I should want as a basketball fan. You're welcome to your opinion, but if you think you can tell me what mine should be you can go fuck yourself.
You tell a random stranger who wasn't even talking to you to go FUCK himself?
Nice dude. Real nice.
If I knew you, should I be more inclined or less inclined to tell you to fuck yourself for telling a random stranger on the internet what to think about something?
I gotta be honest. I don't think the stranger part makes much of a difference to me.

1. Duke
2. Gonzaga
3. Wisconsin
4. Texas
5. Arizona
6. Louisville
7. Virginia
A mixture of size, athleticism and shooting is a must. Whichever team potentially pulls it out will have to be at full strength and shoot lights out, imo.
Louisville rushed too many shots and didn't cash in on a number of open looks. That won't cut it against a team dominating in the paint.

To UK Cowboy,
I wasn't riding you man. Just my opinion. I appreciate that you are a hardcore UK fan, and I respect it and leave it at that. I just wasn't impressed with UK. Like I said, just one man's sports opinion. That's all. Later.
UVa deserves to be in the top tier just as much as Duke, Gonzaga, Wisconsin and Texas do.
