People are losing their minds here in Detroit over lack of moves by Yzerman.

We need to give Briere the time it takes to undo DECADES of Flyers floundering in mediocre land.

First off, the Panthers are a lot more than a contender. They are the defending Cup champs and a potential dynasty in the making. Also, they didn't just begin this quest at the beginning of last season or even a handful of seasons ago. Barkov was drafted 2nd overall in 2013. That's 12 years ago, folks.

That franchise hadn't won dick since finally breaking through last season after some massive trades, plus numerous tweaks to the roster across years and years. They missed the playoffs five times with Barkov and were knocked out in round 1 three times. They finally broke through and made the Cup finals in '23, won it all in '24 and are in position to get back there again this year.

The point is, this shit doesn't just happen overnight. There will be fucking hardships along the way of creating a winner. Yes, Danny B is going to have to consolidate his resources and make some courageous moves here eventually. Until he completely fumbles the ball, I have to believe in his plan. That and the franchise has to make the right moves at the draft and develop some of those prospects into stars. It's all there for the taking. This is not some impossible thing. Let's go get it.
I think we all get that fact that it takes time but what many see is that Briere seems to have a penchant to do stupid shit at the wrong time like last year's First Round. Granted, that might have been a mistake in the process, but he is going to have to get better in selecting talent when he does have the right opportunity come along.

Briere has taken the first steps in moving people and salaries to obtain multiple draft picks in drafts. Now he has to take the next steps he selecting talented players that we need to build that championship team we all want.

So, yes, Maverick, we will have to wait for the next steps in the building process to unfold but he has to happen without stupid shit!

Yes, agree. But what has Philly done to improve their development. Is Lappy still at Phantoms ?

Ugh. Don’t remind me. Hes the reason I’m really not looking forward to when Torts retires.

Third straight loss at home and this one was mismash of spots of hope and then complete stretches of what-the-hell-is-going-on-here! Even Torts admitted the program is going backwards. After Tippett put in our only goal, the Flyers just flat-out sucked on the power play (just lifeless) and also on defense. Missing Laughton was very evident and there were complete stretches of play where the Flyers had their chances—plenty of them—but simply couldn’t finish. The defensive breakdowns were costly and the energy just wasn’t there for long enough stretches of the game.

There's really nothing left to play for this season. We're not too far back in terms of points, but there are just too many better teams already ahead of us. Also, you don't realize what losing meat and potatoes guys like Laughton and Hathaway does to your team until they are gone. They are sort of unsung heroes.

I bet Shitsburgh and Seattle will pass us in the standings, which has us drafting 5th, unless teams like Buffalo or Nashville can pass us too. Probably Nashville will do that because they are winning, which likely gives us the 4th overall pick in the '25 draft. We're too far ahead of Chicago and San Jose, but I think even drafting 3rd is still within the realm of possibility.

We're really bad right now and there are a lot of teams that still have a great deal to play for upcoming on our schedule.

I largely agree, but I wouldn't say decades. 15 years is fair. We were in the Cup Finals in 2010. I was at game 3 that Giroux won in OT. We probably would've won that Cup if we had any help at all in net.

We seem to always run into a burgeoning dynasty. It happens again and again. Canadiens, Islanders, Oilers, Wings, Hawks.

I guess the only way to beat it is to become the dynasty ourselves and that's going to take awhile.

I remember where I was when flyers lost the Cup on the phantom goal.

It's crushing to lose in OT of game 6. We were literally just a goal and a game 7 win away from winning a Cup. But yeah, fucking Patrick Kane knew that puck was in and nobody else did...Lol

I feel like a big part of our problem now is that seemingly nobody worth mentioning wants to come play hockey in Philly. It's not a winning culture anymore. And so, we have to home-grow all of our talent and we're not very good at that yet either. Even if Danny B pulls off a couple trades for big pieces, whose to say they will stay with us!? We need to start making the playoffs at some point to make this an attractive destination or this will never end.

Once you break through and win a Cup, things also become a lot easier in a sense, because players want to stay (or come) and will often even take hometown discounts, which stacks the team that much more. Crosby and Malkin have been doing this for awhile. Fortunately, they (and their teammates) are so old now that it no longer matters.

The league needs to save hockey in this city with a lottery win. Huge market. No young hockey fans because kids that are now 20-25 have never seen good hockey in this city.

Yep guys, all true. It is something some of the most successfull franchises long-term in all of sports have learned. Keep a winning culture so players want to come to your frnachise to win it all. And since those idiots WTFC and Hextall ran the franchise into the ground for 15 years, who in their right mind wants to come to the Flyers??!!
